The Coral Sort Out Your ‘Vacancy’ For The Summer

Do you know the hidden treasure of the Wirral area? Dive into the world of The Coral. Take a ferry across the Mersey and go to Coral Island. Explore the 10th album from the psychedelic band on April 30th. Can’t wait till then? No problem! You can enjoy a teaser they released this week, the single ‘Vacancy’.

The Heart of The City

With Ian, James Skelly, and Paul Molloy’s solo ventures and successful albums, the band took us by surprise with the announcement earlier this month. After ‘Faceless Angel’ and ‘Lover Undiscovered’ The Coral brings us to ‘Vacancy’ across the heart of their beloved uplifting city. “Safe in the storm/I glide through the alleyways/It’s bittersweet/Like a glass half full with rain,” Skelly sings with his signature The Byrds-infused vocals. These lyrics are not without reminding the adventures we can have on the mythic Cavern walk.

Psychedelic love

Bopping guitars and fuzzy organs are The Coral trademark. Since their self-titled album back in 2002, we still jam to the heartwarming and jiggly rhythms of ‘Dreaming of You.‘ The love story continues with that psychedelic musical voyage back to the swinging sixties. “Now I can’t hear the sound/Of these words that I speak/Ahhhhhh vacancy/Ahhhhhh vacancy,” chorus is so infectious remembering the melodies of The Doors Ray Manzarek or the Liverpool legendary Beatles. Take a walk on the magnificent Royal Albert Dock and sip some fresh salty air, enjoying your holiday on this special island poetically described by The Coral. Listen to the summer season gem below.

Stream or buy Vacancy here. Let’s not forget to preorder the double album and its wonderful bundles or the companion book Over Coral Island illustrated by Nick Power here too!
