If you need further proof that Barbara Walters knew what she was saying when she said, “Taylor Swift is the music industry,” all you have to do is look at the success of the re-recorded version of her 2008 album Fearless. So many people in the industry doubted that there would be a payoff for Taylor with these re-recordings, and then she went and smashed so many records! Fearless (Taylor’s Version) went #1 in the U.S, UK, Canada, and Australia, among many other countries, just as we knew she would. Taylor Swift shattered the glass ceiling of people’s expectations and gained the biggest first-week debut of 2021 and the biggest female country streaming ever of all time! Talk about legendary!
With the release of Folklore, Evermore, and now Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Taylor has cemented her place as the only woman to have three(!!) number one albums in a single year. She’s truly a force. We remember watching the Miss Americana documentary and hearing Taylor Swift talk about how Lover might have been her last chance to latch onto that kind of success and it’s insane hearing that and watching where she’s at now. All three of the albums she’s released since then have been critically acclaimed and beloved by fans. With Folklore even winning her a third album of the year nod at The Grammy’s.
To celebrate all of the success of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) we wanted to compile a list of the tracks we are most anxious to hear on the upcoming re-recordings! We had a hell of a hard time narrowing down her incredible work through her other 5 albums that still have to be re-recorded, but we think this is a pretty solid list!
Don’t forget to stream/buy Fearless (Taylor’s Version) here!
We truly grew up with ‘Our Song’ being a part of our daily lives. From the first moment, we heard this track on music choice on demand we were hooked! It’s so country, but even this early in her career, Taylor made the cross over to appeal to a wider audience. ‘Our Song’ is very cutesy and full-blown puppy love and we can’t wait to hear the happily in love Taylor Swift get to sing this track. It’s going to take on a whole new life now that she has Joe and we are ready for yeehaw Taylor to once again rule our lives.
‘Dear John’ is arguably Taylor Swift’s most emotionally driven tracks, especially in her earlier work. It’s so emotional for Taylor, she has made it a point to tell fans that have requested the song be played on tour in the past, that she just couldn’t bring herself to sing it. For us, it’s always been one of those songs that rip us apart, and we are ready to be hurt again! The line “never impressed by me acing your tests” is just a shot to the heart. It’s going to be one of those moments in the re-recording for us, where we just lose it.
Yes, this song also ruins us. It’s such a tragic thing to lose that person you never pictured saying goodbye to. Taylor Swift paints that photo so heartbreakingly beautiful. Since the first time we heard this, regardless of our romantic situation, at the time, we allow ourselves a good cry. We allow ourselves to be 100% at that moment. It’s such a raw and incredible track, and her vocals now are just going to elevate that.
Yet another track where we bawl like babies but for a whole different reason. ‘Long Live’ is a complete love letter to fans and Taylor’s band. It’s all about how much we’ve accomplished alongside Taylor and is so showing off the relationship she has with us. For as long as we can remember the line “and if god forbid fate should step in and force us into a goodbye if you have children someday when they point to the pictures please tell them my name” has just made us ugly cry. Like, oh my god?? Taylor Swift we love you, and we will indeed stand by you forever.
‘All Too Well’
Obviously, like every other swiftie, we are beyond stoked to hear one of Taylor’s most beloved songs re-recorded. Like Taylor Swift has said before, it used to be such a hard song to sing because of the intense emotion behind it, but the fans have completely changed that. We’ve helped her flip that narrative and make this a favorite of hers to play live. We are always so excited to hear it, and we connect with it so much. It’s just such a special song to the fandom, and we know it’s going to blow us away.
‘Everything Has Changed (feat. Ed Sheeran)’
Since Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran have only become even closer friends since recording their collaboration ‘Everything Has Changed’ we can’t wait to hear this re-recording! We know they are thrilled over any opportunity to get to work together, so we are almost certain this is a high point in re-recording for Taylor as well! The track is very calming to us and just flows effortlessly.
‘You Are In Love’
We are ready for this re-recording so that ‘You Are In Love’ can finally get what it deserves by being recognized as one of the best, if not the best track on 1989. It’s a step-by-step look into how to know if you’re in love, and it’s just so pure. We get the warmest feeling inside every time we hear it. It’s one of her best cutesy love songs. We are very single but very ready to pretend we aren’t for the duration of the track.
Do we need to explain why we’re looking forward to this one? Is it not just common knowledge that this song is one of the all-time greatest ever written and that we worship the ground Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff walk on. ‘Getaway Car’ is this track that builds and is so incredible. Truly the shining star of the flawless album that is Reputation.
Need more Taylor in your life? Well, duh!
