When Machine Gun Kelly, aka Colson Baker, turned 30 in 2020, he took the world by storm. He went from creating incredible music for his close-knit fan base named EST to gaining a platform with millions of people following him overnight. He did not slow down, despite the pandemic.
At the beginning of 2020, MGK began by giving us his Lockdown Sessions. This consisted of some new, original songs and also covers, which might we add were all unbelievably great!

Kells then went on to post a brand new song alongside a new music video for ‘Bloody Valentine’ which stirred up an audience, attaining almost 4 million views in just 24 hours as it featured his, not then announced, girlfriend Megan Fox. It was one of the first songs he released that was under the pop-punk category and was the first single from his new album with Travis Barker, Tickets to My Downfall.
After the release of his #1 album Tickets to My Downfall, Kells then went on to attend and perform (COVID safe of course) at many awards and TV shows. He also won the award for Best Alternative with his hit single ‘Bloody Valentine.’ He really didn’t rest this year huh?

During this year, he also released his first pop-punk album with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker which reached number one in the US and number three on the UK charts. It included collaborations with Yungblud, Iann Dior, and even Halsey! We mean if you haven’t already listened to the album, you’ll definitely want to know!
His year outside of music
In between all of the music he’s been dropping, Colson has also been busy focusing on his acting career, filming many movies. He is set to feature in three movies in the future (dates are yet to be announced), one of those being the film that helped him met his girlfriend Megan Fox. We just love them and cannot wait to see them on the big screen together!
He has also had some time to design and release multiple pieces of merchandise – which by the way, have pretty much all been very cool, very pink and VERY comfy (which we can confirm, it’s some of the softest merch in the game!) Go check it out for yourself here.
MGK also has released a musical based upon his album Tickets To My Downfall named Downfalls High which was released in January this year. It features some of our favorites here at The Honey Pop: Sydney Sweeney, Lil Huddy (Chase Hudson), and Maggie Lindemann.

So why do we love MGK and why should you? Since being in the spotlight a lot more than usual this year, he has on various occasions gone against toxic masculinity and might’ve inspired men like himself to follow in his footsteps, declaring that it is pop-punk to wear pink and nail polish – which they most definitely should!
He has created so many beautiful songs that have made his fans feel even more connected to him. His words have been a blessing this past year and have helped keep us all sane!
All we know is this man has been breaking barriers for the entirety of his career and has done it successfully. We don’t know what to expect next from him but we sure can’t wait to see it!
