Acclaimed rapper Eminem has finally jumped into the world of NFT and became one of many music industry fellas who have already entered this space. Usually dropping beats, this time, the rapper has partnered with NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway and dropped some of his first-ever NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) as “Shady Con” for you to grab them.

Released last Sunday, “Shady Con” features a very limited edition NFTs including a variety of approved collectibles and original instrumental beats specially crafted by Slim Shady himself for this release. With the growing passion for NFT in the music industry, we are not surprised to see more and more artists joining this squad and savouring the perks of the digital world. “Shady Con”, which is most likely modelled after the traditional fan and stan festivals, also known as “Cons,” like comic cons, is a digital festival that provided fans, NFT enthusiasts and collectors one massive opportunity to bid and own a piece from this premier drop. Born through creativity, enthusiasm, passion and blockchain technology, this NFT drop is inspired by Eminem’s passion as a vintage toy, comic book and trading card collector that traces back to his childhood days as just “plain old Marshall.”

Eminem doesn’t need an introduction as his music and worldwide success speak for themselves. With over 130 million albums and 389 million singles worldwide, 15 GRAMMY Awards, an Academy Award, and being named Billboard Artist of the Year throughout ten years, he has become a household name. Not to forget, his fans are aggressively devoted towards the artist, hence the success of this drop was never questioned. Eminem first teased about this release via Twitter by quoting a video of “Saturday Night Live” sketch featuring Pete Davidson enacting as Eminem from the music video for his single, ‘Without Me,’ an attempt to explain about NFT through the parody of the song.

When asked about his latest release and inspiration for NFT drop, he commented,

“I’ve been collecting since I was a kid, everything from comic books to baseball cards to toys, as well as every rap album on cassette I could get my hands on,” said Eminem. “Not much has changed for me as an adult, I’ve attempted to re-create some of those collections from that time in my life, and I know I’m not alone. I wanted to give this drop the same vibe of, ‘Oh, man I gotta get just that one or maybe even the whole set!’ It’s been a lot of fun coming up with ideas from my own collecting passion.”

And like the rest of us, Ashley Ramos, Senior Producer at Nifty Gateway is feeling equally enthusiastic about this latest collaboration with Eminem.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Eminem to our platform. Demand for NFTs continues to grow and we’re excited to bring this collaboration to our community and give them access to new artwork and music on Nifty Gateway’s marketplace.”

Nifty Gateway is an all-in-one digital marketplace that enables artists and brands and eases their way to participate in this new defining era of NFT where you can buy, sell and store NFT collectibles. Through the creation of unique, identifiable, and secure digital art on blockchain technology, Nifties have given authenticity to digital art — and with that provenance comes value.
