Who’s Ready To Fall In Love With Pixar’s Luca?

This summer is going to be a good one for all of us, animated movies fans. Why? Oh, you know, just Disney and Pixar teaming up to release an animated feature film. Of course, we’re talking about Luca! The movie takes us to Portorosso, a small town in the Italian Riviera, where we have the humans… and the sea monsters living just below the surface. Luca is one of these sea monsters who, alongside his best friend, Alberto, goes on an adventure to the surface (against their families’ wishes because that’s how it always starts).

While on land, the boys meet Giulia, and the three become friends. And since they’re hiding their true selves from Giulia and her dad, this should make for some very interesting moments. At least, that’s the impression we got from the new trailer:

Luca has everything we love in both a Disney movie and a Pixar movie. It’s colorful, has an awesome cast, and we’re like 99% sure we’re going to walk away from it with a valuable lesson and tears in our eyes (in a good way). And, following a trend we’re loving, we get to see another part of the world through the animators’ eyes. We saw Paris in Ratatouille, Mexico in Coco, among many other beautiful places (if you’ve been watching our Passport Playlist series, you know how much we love getting to know different cultures).

So far, that’s all we know about Luca. Well, that and the fact that we can’t wait for June 18th to come around so we can watch it on Disney+. Are you looking forward to Luca like we are? Tell us in the comments, or tweet us @TheHoneyPOP!

Need more Disney+ suggestions? We’ve got the buzz.
