You guys remember when Wheatus re-released ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ along with never heard before masterpiece ‘Mope?’ And then we all lost it because of nostalgia? Well, what if we told you something very similar is happening right now? Wheatus released a new version of the 2000 hit ‘I’d Never Write A Song About You’ and ‘Temporary Song,’ enlisting the help of Josh Devine and Sandy Beales just to make things even better.
20 years have passed and ‘I’d Never Write A Song About You’ still holds up as an absolute banger! And then there’s ‘Temporary Song’ which is brilliant too! Dudes, you can’t just throw this at us and then expect us to be okay afterward. By the way, we’re not, we’re freaking out and playing both songs on repeat since we saw the tweet above.
‘I’d Never Write A Song About You’ is a timeless song, confirmed. Just like ‘Teenage Dirtbag,’ it sounds similar, but with a twist! And we loved that this was the song chosen for this re-release because the lyrics could easily be interpreted as being about a person or just about the insanity that is this pandemic and being in quarantine for so long. It all depends on who you’re angry with at any given moment.
‘Temporary Song,’ on the other hand, is a new song, and we love that. And on top of bringing those angsty vibes we all love, it’s also a reminder that nothing lasts forever. Everyone needs to remember that, don’t we? It almost goes without saying, but we’re going to say it anyway: this song is a must-listen!
In conclusion, you should really do yourself a favor and go listen to ‘I’d Never Write A Song About You’ and ‘Temporary Song’ right now on your preferred streaming service, you won’t regret it, we promise.
After you do that, come back and tell us what you think of the singles in the comments, tweet us @TheHoneyPop, or find us on Instagram or Facebook. We’ll love to hear your thoughts! (We also need more people hyped about these songs because they deserve it)
