Following ‘Overdrive,’ ‘Astronomy’ begins with a soft, wistful guitar and builds toward a haunting chorus and soaring bridge. Reminiscent of his friend and fellow Swiftie, Olivia Rodrigo, the lyrics are raw and honest, with lines like “we were the same/with runaway fathers and mothers who drank.” Conan’s signature lilting vocals bleed into powerful, anthemic high notes over the course of the song, creating an atmosphere that’s as enchanting as it is emotional. It’s the kind of song that orbits its way straight into your soul like it’s attached to the very stardust atoms humans are made of.
Official Music Video
The official music video released today at noon EST! Conan even did a live stream 15 minutes before the premiere on YouTube for us! The video begins with a dreamy aesthetic that melts into a portrait of heartbreak as night falls. The camera plays the role of Conan’s partner, creating an intimate wonderland as we follow him through meadows and sunsets, even if the end is bittersweet.
The Central Texas native has been writing songs from a young age and grew an audience on social media with his vlogs and art. From there, his rise has been meteoric. He’s achieved nearly four billion streams overall since his 2018 debut single ‘Idle Town,’ and gained high caliber fans such as Sir Elton John and Taylor Swift. His 2020 debut album Kid Krow has been RIAA certified Gold and reached number five on the Billboard Top 200. Not to mention, his song ‘Heather‘ became inescapable on TikTok. This year he’s released a new single, ‘Overdrive,’ and has more music on the horizon.
