Briston Maroney, the Nashville-based dreamy indie-rock artist of our dreams, has blessed us with another music video from his critically acclaimed debut album, Sunflower. The album was released back in April 2021 via Canvasback Music, and has since gained over five 5 million global streams – as he deserves!
Sunflower was received with extreme critical acclaim from the likes of The Sunday Times, and Rolling Stone France, with American Songwriter describing it as a collection of “10 tracks that Maroney got right” describing the exact feelings of “youth-filled anxieties, growing older, and the awakening of what’s blossoming all around.” Considering it is only his debut album, Briston has gained success after success since its release, which is extremely well deserved. The album debuted at #8 on Apple Music’s Alternative Albums chart, and landed Briston at #16 on the overall Top New Artists chart – how amazing!
Whilst listening to Sunflower, we were immersed into the beautiful, emotionally raw talent that Briston Maroney shares – both lyrically and musically. Each track takes us on an emotional rollercoaster and explores some personal experiences for Briston. If his debut album was this enticing, we can’t even begin to imagine what his next projects will sound like! You can buy/stream Sunflower here.
Alongside the release of the album, Briston put out a feature-length companion film which was envisioned by Briston and his creative collaborator and friend, Joey Brodnax. The 42-minute long film showcases each individual song on the album, with their own cinematic accompaniment. You can watch the visual film here. The visual album includes previous singles from Sunflower, such as ‘Deep Sea Diver’ and ‘Freeway’ – which have been released with a music video, alongside the track ‘Bottle Rocket,’ which was selected as this month’s critical cut on SIRUSXM Alt Nation’s. You can watch all of the music video releases from Sunflower here.
On the 6th of May, Briston returned with another breathtaking music video for his track ‘Cinnamon,’ which is a slower, more laidback song. The track features soft guitar strings which are accompanied by Briston’s soft, charming vocals. The lyrics in the song explore the feeling of falling in love with someone, whilst also referencing some of the biggest songs of all time – such as Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Landslide’ and Elton John’s ‘Tiny Dancer.’ The track is extremely catchy and just so loveable, which is part of the reason why it is our favorite track from the album – we just can’t get enough of it!
The music video for ‘Cinnamon’ features a dreamy aesthetic focusing on pastel-colored houses, with Briston singing directly into the camera out of a pink house that is the literal embodiment of how a sunset looks and feels! The cinematography of the music video is just as beautiful as the melody and the lyrics of the track, immersing the viewers into a state of utter bliss.
Ever since the release of his debut album, it has been success after success for Briston Maroney. He has now amassed over three million monthly listeners, and the number just keeps increasing day by day. He is also set to perform at Bonnaroo Music Festival and join Mt. Joy on tour later this year – 2021 really is Briston’s year and he’s taking the world by storm.
We are obsessed with everything Briston has put out so far, and we’re super excited to see what he does next! Let us know which track from Sunflower you’re listening to on repeat RN – either comment down below or tweet us over at @TheHoneyPop!
