Hello, fellow 90s and 2000s kids, how are you? We’re good. In fact, we’re better than good, we just got more info on the new installment of our beloved childhood classic, The Proud Family. Appropriately named The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder, the show will drop in 2022. Not that that’ll make us any less excited for it. We all remember the days when we’d sit on the couch and enjoy the adventures of Penny Proud. And to think we get to see it again and that today’s kids will get to watch it as well, we’re just super happy for everyone, okay?
In case you need a refresher on the characters or weren’t around back then to know them in the first place, here’s a handy little guide Disney+ gave us a while ago. To all of you who watched the show, can you also hear the voices of the characters as they’re being mentioned? If yes, good! Because most of the original voice cast is coming back to the roles.
The New Stuff
Do you see that last character that they mentioned, Maya? Well, we just got a little more information on her these days. No longer just “the new kid,” Maya is described as a “14-year-old activist,” and she’ll be voiced by Keke Palmer. We’re falling in love with her already. One more thing: she’s the adoptive daughter of Randall and Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins, voiced by Billy Porter and Zachary Quinto, respectively. This family has everything to become as iconic as the characters from the original show. Check out how Barry and Randall will look in the show:
And here’s a quick tip from THP: the previous seasons of The Proud Family are currently on Disney+. So whether you want to dive into nostalgia or check out the show for the first time, we highly encourage you. Penny and her family deserve all the love in the world.
