Here’s Why We Will Keep Tuning Into 4D with Demi Lovato!

Demi Lovato recently released the first episode of their brand new podcast, and it was one of the best podcast episodes we’ve heard thus far! The podcast is called 4D with Demi Lovato and is in partnership with OBB Sound, SB Projects, and Cadence13. We have always loved Demi’s mind and always thought they’d be a fantastic podcast host. And we were right!! There is a lot to go through, but here are a few reasons why we will keep tuning into their podcast.

Demi Announces They Are Non-Binary

The introduction to the episode started with Demi announcing they were non-binary and use they/them pronouns. We are so happy and feel incredibly honored that they felt comfortable sharing their journey with us. The announcement opened up the podcast into a much deeper conversation, which we absolutely love.

With that said, I’ll officially be changing my pronouns to they/them. I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression, and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am, and still am discovering.

Alok Vaid-Menon Was The First Guest

The iconic gender-nonconforming author and performer was the official first guest of 4D with Demi Lovato. We first heard about Alok when Demi featured them on their Instagram stories. When we saw Alok’s Instagram and all they have done for their community, we knew this was a match made in heaven. Alok was the perfect person to feature on the debut episode! And if this was the first guest, we cannot wait to see who else will feature on future episodes.

The Flow Of Conversation

Although the first topic was a bit heavy, with Demi revealing their new pronouns and their experience with their journey of self-acceptance, the flow of conversation between Alok and Demi was phenomenal. You could hear and feel their friendship through your headphones. They are phenomenal storytellers, and Alok’s knowledge is something that we admire and are in awe of. We also feel a deep kinship to them, with us all being from Texas. wink wink.

There was a point at the beginning where Demi teared up hearing Alok speak, and we really resonated with what they were talking about. “Shame is joy interrupted.” Alok made us gasp when they said this out loud. It is the truth and something we weren’t able to put into words. But we believe that is why people are put into our lives. To speak the truth and put things into words where we are unable to.

Learning About Their Experiences

As we’ve mentioned before, we loved hearing and learning about their personal experiences. We feel it is so important to take the time to listen to those you might not understand or issues you might have never experienced. In our opinion, life is about constant growth, and you can’t grow without listening to people who may be different from you.

We absolutely loved learning even more about the non-binary community and hearing about both Alok and Demi’s thoughts about the community and social stigmas. Our absolute favorite quote was when Alok was talking about language:

Spoiler alert: All language was made up. And last time I checked, you don’t speak Shakespearean English. You understand that language evolves over time to address topics and better communicate.

The deep conversation and getting to hear Alok spit some facts made our entire day. We knew we would love anything that Demi puts out into the world, but they really hit it out of the park with this podcast.

The Humor

Unless you have been living under a rock, you would know and remember Demi’s beautiful laugh. They have the most contagious laugh, and it brings us huge amounts of serotonin when we can hear their joy. Although the topic of conversation was a bit serious at times, this did not stop Alok and Demi from using humor and showcasing their friendship with each other. It even got a good chuckle out of us. We just know future episodes will be the same, with a mix of seriousness and humor, and we cannot wait!
