Just a couple of months after dropping the video for ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ which broke the internet, Lil Nas X is back with a new single. The new single is a chill track that is accompanied by emotional lyrics full of genuine emotion. ‘SUN GOES DOWN’ is definitely not the same vibe as ‘Montero’ or ‘Holiday.’ This new song is a track that has his heart written all over it. Listen to the track here.
Reflecting on his teenage years, Lil Nas X presents the different struggles he dealt with in high school. Struggling with bullying and coming out, he sings about the struggles on his road to self-acceptance and love.
These gay thoughts would always haunt me / I prayed God would take it from me / It’s hard for you when you’re fighting / And nobody knows it when you’re silent

Reflecting On His Past
From working late nights at Taco Bell to being alone on prom night, Lil Nas X invites us into the past that made him who he is today. The 22-year-old visits his younger self “who’s struggling inside, hating himself & doesn’t want to live anymore,” he says.
Check out this article we wrote all about his journey here.
The self-reflection conveyed through the video is something so empowering. This video shows us a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. Directed by himself and Psycho Films, we get a glimpse of the past through his own eyes.
We see a different side of Lil Nas X in this new single. And, one that is definitely showing us his versatility with songwriting. Hopefully, this isn’t the only chill track we get off his new album Montero which is supposed to drop this Summer. We definitely recommend a full watch-through of this video, listen to the lyrics and take a look at all the imagery being conveyed! We are so excited for what’s to come for Lil Nas X and the future of his career, as this is only the start!
