The Honey POP’s List of LGBTQIA+ Icons

Pride Month is the month to celebrate all of the members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and the amazing men, women, and gender-nonconforming people who got us to where we are today. It may not be perfect, but it’s something we can celebrate. In honor of this beautiful month, let’s talk about The Honey POP’s List of LGBTQIA+ Icons.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato has given us nothing but their heart and soul since they joined the music industry. They share their defeats so that we know everyone is human. Through their songs, so many of us have been given the courage to be ourselves. They represent honesty and individuality, as well as killer music, of course! If you aren’t obsessed with Demi you’ve definitely gotta change that. They speak on the deep topics that we all need to hear. This icon is one we’ll never forget, and we hope they never forget the love we fans have for them.

Halsey is the queen of confidence! She refuses to let what the world throws at her bring her down. We should all aspire to hold our heads as high as Halsey. Their crown will not be falling anytime soon, we can tell you that much. Not only are they a member of the LGBTQIA+ community but they also use their platform for activism in other communities that need our help. Every day we find more and more reasons to love this woman! She never fails to amaze us with her love for music and others.

This icon here is taking the world by storm with his killer music style. YUNGBLUD writes music about topics that a lot of people are scared to touch on and we’re in awe of how well he does it! He speaks for people with no voice and encourages others to do the same! Everything about him tells us how absolutely himself he really is. Honesty and compassion run through his veins and we’re honored to have him as a part of our community. Being yourself is never a shame, and YUNGBLUD proves just that.

Sam Smith

We’re sure everyone is already obsessed with them, but if you’re not, are you really living? We’re kidding! Kinda. Sam writes from the heart and it’s so apparent. They embrace every aspect of what their sexuality and gender identity mean to them. Despite all that happens in the world, seeing them be who they were always meant to be, brings a smile to our faces here at The Honey POP. Sam has continued to give us the strength and inspiration to embrace exactly who we were born to be.

Girl in Red

Do you listen to girl in red? No seriously do you, because you should. She writes songs that are meant especially for the LGBTQIA+ community, giving us all of the best songs to scream at 2 am in the car. (We’ve all been there, trust us.) Her unapologetic love for who she is continues to be the confidence boost we all deserve. Not only is she a musical genius, but she’s also one of the many icons of the LGBTQIA+ community. Songs like ‘i wanna be your girlfriend’ are on all of our pride playlists!

Adam Lambert

Hold onto your hats cause Adam Lambert has made an appearance in his rightful place as an icon. Whether you know him from his role on Glee or his iconic music career, one thing’s for sure, Adam Lambert rules the world in any matter. He amazes us in all the ways he knows how. We at The Honey POP love the confidence and the power Adam takes with him wherever he goes. He inspires all of us with his fierce energy and his love for who he is. We can all learn something from him.

Lady Gaga

If you thought we were making an article of our favorite icons of the LGBTQIA+ community and not adding the queen Lady Gaga, we’re sorry to tell you, but she’s here to stay. Lady Gaga is the mother of all things LGBTQIA+. Whether it’s through her song ‘Born This Way’ or her “take the world by storm“ attitude, she gives all of her little monsters her support and love. We admire her courage and how she always manages to make the world around her a welcoming place.

Joshua Bassett

Just because he’s new to the family doesn’t mean he isn’t deserving of this title. Joshua Bassett, who plays Ricky Bowen on the Disney+ show High School Musical: the Musical: the Series, has recently come out, and we welcome him with open arms. His heartfelt coming out and his overall loving nature prove he is an icon. We send our congratulations to Joshua and all of the people who are opening up about their sexuality. We love you all! Joshua has paved the way for new members of the LGBTQIA+ community and we couldn’t be more stoked.

Miley Cyrus

It doesn’t matter who you are, you definitely know Miley Cyrus. Miley Cyrus has shaped millions of childhoods throughout the years. She has shown us how easy it is to be true to yourself and that society’s opinion doesn’t matter as long as you’re doing so. We are all convinced that there is nothing Miley can’t do. She’s a singer, an actress, and overall a powerful woman we could all hope to be. We here at The Honey POP love all things Miley Cyrus, and we’re not afraid to shout it to the world.

Actress, singer, LGBTQIA+ icon are all words to describe Dove Cameron. Whether you see her on the big screen or in one of her killer music videos, we’re always getting her true and authentic self. We love everything about her; the confidence, the positivity, and the love she gives to everyone around her. We could all aspire to be someone as loving and open as she is. Dove is nothing less than a legend, who will continue to change the world, a movie, a song, or an Instagram post at a time.

As the first openly LGBTQIA+ member in the K-Pop industry, it makes perfect sense that Holland is on The Honey POP’s list of LGBTQIA+ icons. He faces the stigmas of being out in South Korea, yet refuses to let that faze him. We tip our hat to Holland for being someone we can turn to be unapologetically ourselves. It is people like Holland that give those of us in the LGBTQIA+ community the courage to keep fighting, despite the fear of the way society sees us. It is because of his love, confidence, and being his true self, that he deserves his place on this list.

Are you as obsessed with these icons as we are? Do you have any icons to add to the list we missed? Let us know in the comments by tweeting us @TheHoneyPop, or telling us on Facebook and Instagram.
