It’s happening! Not only are we getting a new Catie Turner track, but we’re also getting an EP! The EP will be called Heartbroken and Milking It and will bless our ears on July 16th! The EP will feature ‘Play God,’ as well as of course ‘Therapy.’ We’ve been patiently waiting for so long for this body of work and we are beyond stoked!
Today we are here to talk all about ‘Therapy.’ We are prepared to gush all about this track and all about Catie Turner!
Listen to ‘Therapy’ here!
As usual with Catie Turner’s music, the songwriting is just heads and shoulders above the rest. ‘Therapy’ is all about how relationships can turn unhealthy fast when someone in the relationship treats the other like a therapist instead of a partner. It’s such a toxic point, and can for sure lead to a mental health decline on both partners.
All you can really be for your partner is a friend, someone who offers love and support and a helping hand. It’s unfair to ask any more of another person. This is a concept we really haven’t heard discussed in a track before, but we know so many people are going to be able to relate. Too many people, especially young people, find themselves in relationships where one, or both parties become dependent. We are so glad ‘Therapy’ makes it clear how unhealthy that is, and that in the end you just need ‘Therapy.’
While the subject matter of the track feels a bit heavy, the song makes you want to dance. That chorus is such an incredible example of genuine good pop music. An upbeat song that makes you want to get up and move, while you’re also crying because the words hit a little too hard.
We knew as soon as Catie Turner gave us a sneak peek of ‘Therapy’ on TikTok that we were going to love it. And of course, we do!
Hearing this track has just made us even more excited for the EP. If this is the level of writing and honesty we’re in for, we will never be taking Heartbroken and Milking It off repeat.
