This week, we enter the second half of the first season of Loki. And let us tell you, we are not okay in the slightest! The God of Mischief has truly stolen our hearts in these first three episodes, and we can’t wait to see what awaits us in the second half of the season.
As if sensing our need for more Loki content before this week’s episode, Marvel released a mid-season sneak peek for us to watch on loop while we wait for Wednesday. Take a look:
Most of the video is a recap of the last three episodes, but the last few scenes are new footage. And even the recap is worth paying attention to because it may be important down the line. For example, you cannot convince us that they’ve started this clip with the Asgardian saying about being careful with traps for no reason. That’s going to be important later, we just know it.
Other important moments we think are worth mentioning are Sylvie’s “this isn’t about you.” Maybe we’ll see more of her plan this week and Loki’s “no one bad is ever truly bad, and no one good is ever truly good,” which we’re seriously considering as foreshadowing about the TVA. For all we know, the space lizards could have been the real villains all along. We’re still not buying the whole “sacred timeline” thing. Another thing that remains unclear is how involved in this mess Judge Renslayer and Miss Minutes truly are.
Now, On To The New Footage
Firstly, Loki and Sylvie are back at the TVA. We don’t know how, but they are, and Sylvie gets a lot more security guards holding her down than Loki does, a fact that does not please the God of Mischief very much. There’s also a rather enigmatic moment where we hear Mobius say “I believed, stupidly, that you could be whatever you wanna be, even someone good.” Quite confusing to see him say that, considering he spent the first episode talking about how everyone is born to live within a set path. What happened to our jet ski-loving agent here? Did someone tell him the truth about the TVA?
There are also a few clips without dialogue that are … something else. There’s mini Sylvie again, which makes us think she’ll be a big deal later in the season; there’s Loki on the throne of Asgard, a sight we haven’t seen since the end of Thor: The Dark World, but that wasn’t even the same Loki we see in this show. And then, the sneak peek ends in a cliffhanger with Loki using his dagger, but we can’t see who or what he’s aiming for.
If Marvel’s goal was to send us into a crazy excited mode, they’ve succeeded beautifully. Again. And now we can’t wait to see more of this wonderful show and how it’ll affect the rest of the MCU in the future.
Please tell us we’re not the only ones losing our sanity with this show, come talk to us in the comments or tweet us @TheHoneyPOP!
