What would happen if a virtual platform like TikTok had a physical space where viewers and content creators could interact and film? Well, we’re about to find out because TikTok has announced it will open its first UK pop-up venue at Westfield shopping center in London. From July 22 until August 8th, the ‘For You’ house will allow fans to attend sessions with influencers and even create their own videos. It’s already living in our minds rent-free.
How Does It Work?
At the ‘For You’ house, TikTok stars like Kyle Thomas, Ehiz Ufuah, and Poppy O’Toole will hold sessions where they’ll share their tips and tricks for making killer content. For just £5 (about $7), you’ll be able to meet some of your TikTok idols and hear their insider advice. We already love the sound of this.
You can also book the venue for free to create your own videos. Holly Harrison, who handles fashion and retail brand partnerships at TikTok, commented, “Creators are at the very heart of the TikTok experience, and to be able to celebrate them once again in real life with this incredible activation at Westfield London is a unique chance for our community to see the For You feed brought to life.”
Additionally, because safety is so important when using social media, there will be sessions for parents about how to keep teens safe on TikTok.
What Does The Space Look Like?
The house’s design is modeled after TikTok’s homepage, and with four themed rooms over two floors, there’s lots to do. Each room in the 4,000-square-foot space highlights a different trend. The hub is the Living Room, which focuses on editing. For beauty and fashion challenges, head to the Dressing Room. If you’re in the mood for food, the Kitchen is all about cook-offs and viral recipes. Finally, the Garden is where you can hone your athletic skills and dance routines.
Why A Pop-up Venue?
As more people turn to social media apps like TikTok to decide what to buy, eat, and wear, having a physical space will introduce the app to even more potential users. According to Harita Shah, the Marketing Director for UK events at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, “TikTok has become a cultural phenomenon. It’s where many of our visitors are getting their inspiration from, whether that’s fashion trends, the newest home styling influencer, or foodie fads. Having a physical space at Westfield London gives TikTok the chance to immerse shoppers and new creators in full 360 experience where the best of the online platform merges with a real-life experience.”
