You all know how much we love Marvel at The Honey POP, right? We’ve been ranting about their Disney+ shows for ages, for goodness’ sake! And you bet we’re also going to talk about their next big hit: What If…? Good news for us (and you): we have a new trailer for the show! Now let’s talk about it because there is a lot going on here.
But first, allow us to try to explain what exactly is going on during What If…? The premise of the show is literally to ask “what if this thing went different?”, “what if this character didn’t go through this?”, etc. The trailer literally opens with the first scenes of the first Iron Man going in a different direction. And it just gets better from there.
Like we said, a lot going on. We see Killmonger saving Tony in the desert, Peggy Carter with the uniform and the shield, Loki with the Asgardian army, T’Challa traveling with Yondu instead of Peter Quill, and so much more! So many possibilities for what could happen in this series, we can’t wait to watch it. That being said, the very existence of this show brings up one huge question for anyone who’s been watching Loki: how are all these realities even here? So far, we’ve only seen a single canon timeline because of the TVA, but could it be that Loki, Sylvie, and Mobius actually get rid of the time cops and, in doing so, allow the multiverse to exist? We hope so! Either that or the explanation will come in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, considering how much of Stephen Strange we’re seeing in the trailer.
We know better than to speculate too much when it comes to Marvel, we’ve been there, we don’t want to go back there. What we can do, though, is list a few possibilities we’d like to see being explored. For example, Peggy Carter getting the serum instead of Steve Rogers sounds interesting, to say the least. Especially, if you consider how much of an awesome agent she already is as a regular human. Beyond all that, we will also be watching Chadwick Boseman’s final performance as T’Challa (we may cry at this one.)
And here’s the really fun part: since this is a Marvel Studios production, it counts as canon for the MCU, meaning it could possibly impact future movies and shows! Does anyone else really want to see characters from different realities interacting with one another? We’ve seen what multiple Loki’s can do when they’re together, imagine what two Doctor Strange’s might get up to, for example. August 11 can’t come soon enough.
We are super excited to see what comes of Marvel’s first animated series. What about you? You can tell us in the comments or tweet us @TheHoneyPOP!
