Are you freaking out? Yes? Same.
August 8th, 2021, marks the five-year anniversary of the biggest K-pop girl group on the globe, and the girls are not coming to the party empty-handed. On June 15th, the K-Pop powerhouses took to their socials to unveil a mysterious teaser titled “5th ANNIVERSARY [4+1 Project].”
It has since been deciphered to mean – the four members (4) and their ever dedicated ocean of fans, the BLINKs (+1) who have made BLACKPINK, the immensely successful, global group they are today. It has also been revealed, that this celebration will include a series of five separate projects from members – Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé.
Yesterday, the trailer for the movie was put out in the world and from the first look, it feels like it’s gonna involve a lot of nostalgia, emotions, all that shebang, and well – a whole lotta BLACKPINK, like never before!
BLACKPINK THE MOVIE will be their second documentary film following 2020’s Light Up The Sky documentary on Netflix. It will feature a journey from 2015 to 2021 BLACKPINK, with “special never-seen-before interviews” and some performances from this year’s virtual concert – BLACKPINK: THE SHOW and their 2018 tour, In Your Area.
The movie is set to be screened in both 2D and 4DX formats. The tickets are already available here and you need to go grab yours, like right now! Ah, don’t worry about it. You’re welcome.
Hold up, don’t leave yet. There’s more. The girls will also release a 208 page, special edition photobook they crafted themselves, featuring behind-the-scene photos from THE ALBUM which will hit the stores on August 9th. Pre-order it now to get a Special Gift Case with some extra goodies!

BLACKPINK is on a roll this year, following the release of their chart-topping, first full-length LP – THE ALBUM, last October after previously issuing a handful of EPs and shorter “single albums” spanning career-defining hits like – ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,’ and ‘How You Like That.’ THE ALBUM was a long-awaited project and as always, BLACKPINK delivered; with bops like – ‘Lovesick Girls’ and the Selena Gomez collaboration ‘Ice Cream.’ They also bagged a feature on Lady Gaga‘s GRAMMY-winning album – Chromatica, on the song ‘Sour Candy!’ Earlier this year, member Rosé dropped her debut solo project, R, which marked the second solo EP from a BLACKPINK member following Jennie’s 2018 EP, Solo. These girls never stop and it shows. Following THE SHOW they are now ready to serve with BLACKPINK THE MOVIE!
