Country-pop hitmakers Dan + Shay are back with a new album!
Following the release of their new single and title track, ‘Good Things,’ the duo are set to unveil their fourth studio album Good Things on August 13. The album will feature 12 songs with production by Dan himself, including singles ’10,000 Hours’ with Justin Bieber, ‘Glad You Exist,’ and ‘I Should Probably Go To Bed.’ As true pop-country crossovers, the writing credits include both country veterans like Ashley Gorley, and pop icons like frequent Ariana Grande collaborator Tayla Parx, as well as Shawn Mendes and Julia Michaels.
‘Good Things’ serves as the official prelude to the album, complete with a feel-good music video and a performance on NBC’s Citi Music Series on TODAY.
Since Dan + Shay has a discography filled with hits, we made a list of some of the best to revisit in preparation for another bop-filled summer album!
10,000 HOURS FEAT. JUSTIN BIEBER
Everything Dan + Shay touch turns to gold…turns to platinum…and with the extra magic touch of Justin Bieber, this smash hit went 4x Platinum. ’10,000 Hours’ was No. 1 for multiple weeks and shattered streaming records. It became the biggest first-week streaming total in country music history. Not to mention, this song grabbed them their third GRAMMY for Best Country Duo/Group Performance!
The song was released just four days after Justin and Hailey Bieber’s wedding, and they also released a special ‘wedding version’ stripped back to just piano.
GLAD YOU EXIST
As their most current single, ‘Glad You Exist’ has racked up 800,000 track equivalents and become RIAA Gold-certified. And for good reason! The earnest, sweet track expresses gratitude to fans, friends, and family.
After such a tough year like 2020, ‘Glad You Exist’ is a reminder of all the small things that make our everyday lives magical. As Shay said, ‘concerts, bonfires, road trips with friends, even the simple things like date night at a restaurant, or beers at a bar during a football game.’ Because when it comes to those pockets of joy that we all hold dear, it’s the people around us that make them special. ‘Glad You Exist’ is a timeless classic already because of that very reason.
Another chart-topper that snagged the duo a Best Country Duo/Group Performance GRAMMY, ‘Tequila’ is a nostalgic jam that’s so catchy you can’t help but get hooked. ‘Tequila’ catapulted the duo to new heights as the lead single from their self-titled third album.
The song peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was their highest ranking until ’10,000 Hours’ took the crown in 2019.
The clever songwriting paired with the soaring vocals makes ‘Tequila’ a song that will always get the crowd singing along, and it’s made even more special with the addition of Dan’s wife Abby Smyers’ backing vocals in the chorus.
FROM THE GROUND UP
Released as the lead single of the duo’s second album, Obsessed, ‘From the Ground Up’ is one of their most sentimental songs. It was inspired by both of their grandparents and has become a quintessential wedding song. It features silky smooth harmonies layered over dreamy strings, piano, guitar, and drums.
The song is vivid, creating a sweeping love story that rivals a romance movie. It was certified Platinum by RIAA and achieved success across multiple charts in both country and pop spheres.
19 YOU + ME
Taking it back to Dan + Shay’s debut single, ’19 You + Me’ has stood the test of time.
The perfect summer song, it was released in October 2013 ahead of their April 2014 debut album Where It All Began. It quickly climbed the charts and drew fans in with its pop-tinged country storytelling. Like their subsequent work, Dan + Shay are masters of storytelling through song, and ’19 You + Me’ was the perfect introduction. More smash singles followed from the album, and they were off like lightning in a bottle.
’19 You + Me’ was met with praise and positive reviews and – setting the tone for the rest of their career – it was certified Platinum in 2015.
Flash forward back to the present, and Dan + Shay are set to embark on their Dan + Shay The (Arena) Tour in the fall with new dates. The 30-stop tour includes Madison Square Garden in New York City and will feature The Band Camino and Ingrid Andress.
