Ever since starting out in 2014, YONAKA has been a force to be reckoned with. Earlier this week, the band released their highly-anticipated Seize The Power mixtape, their first body of work since 2019! This eight-track mixtape, produced entirely by the band, is full of energy and uplifting songs, guaranteed to get you jumping! Seize The Power ranges from loud, in-your-face tracks to composed and thought-provoking songs. The mixtape features already released hit singles ‘Raise Your Glass,’ ‘Call Me A Saint’ and the lead single, ‘Seize The Power.’

This incredible body of work explores themes such as empowerment, hopefulness, and acceptance. The band also touched upon different types of relationships within the mixtape with the track ‘Get Out,’ which talks about a love of some kind, and ‘Greedy’ portrays a more toxic relationship. But overall, the main message throughout this mixtape is to encourage the viewer not to let anyone tell you who to be and is vividly shown in hard-hitting songs ‘Call Me A Saint,’ ‘Anthem,’ and ‘Clique.’

Seize The Power is a collection of songs to empower you. We all possess the power within but through life, we are always put down by others, told to be quiet and not express ourselves; this makes us less confident and we lose ourselves. I wanted to take back control and yes, I’m not in control all the time but when I’m there I’m untouchable. This is a wake-up call. Anyone can be anything they put their mind to. Be who you want! Everything up until now has lead to this moment so take the moment and make it yours and enjoy it.

Seize The Power is full of emotion! Within Seize The Power is a collection of angry songs such as ‘Clique.’ This powerful track is enough to make you feel angry along with the band! Additionally, it also features more captivating power ballads such as ‘Anthem,’ which features Barnes Courtney to end the mixtape. This intensely beautiful song is written about standing out of the crowd and being yourself, despite what others say. We love this mixtape so much and advise you to listen to it if you haven’t already!
