THP Time Capsule: Through The Years With All Time Low

THP Time Capsule: Through The Years With All Time Low

Welcome back to THP Time Capsule: Through The Years With… where we look back over the careers of some of our favorite bands and artists to reminisce and to see how far they’ve come.

The time capsule has been opened, so let’s take a look and see who’s inside…

It’s everyone’s favorite pop-punk band, All Time Low! They’ve been providing us bops for almost two decades, and they are still just as amazing to listen to as they were back in the early 2000s. We love that we’ve gotten to grow up with this band! They have gotten us through multiple life crises, teenage angst, and much, much more! That’s why they are the perfect addition to the time capsule series!

Meet The Band

All Time Low was formed in 2003 in Towson, Maryland, while the band was in high school. They got their name from a New Found Glory song, and their first EP was released the following year in 2004! The band is currently signed with Fueled By Ramen, and consists of four members:

Alex Gaskarth – lead vocalist

Jack Barakat – lead guitarist/ backing vocals

Zack Merrick – bass Guitar/ backing vocals

Rian Dawson – drummer

Now that we’ve got the introduction out of the way, strap in! We are about to take you on one heck of an emotional and nostalgic roller coaster! From their earliest works to the most recent, we’ve got lots of ground to cover! So, there’s no time to waste – we’re taking off in 3 … 2 … 1

All Time Low Demo EP & The Three Words to Remember In Dealing With The End EP

The earliest days of All Time Low, fetus ATL if you will, consist of these two fabulous EPs! Released in 2003 and 2004, these EPs kicked off their career strong and made them who they are today, and we’re still obsessed with them all these years later. They are fan favorites to those of us that have been here since the beginning, and that is why we had to include them in our list!

These EPs aren’t on streaming platforms but you can stream them on YouTube here and here!

The Party Scene

This album is the band’s debut, full-length album. Released in July of 2005, it’s about to celebrate its 16th birthday: Happy Sweet 16, The Party Scene! With 13 unbelievable tracks, this album paved the way for all the All Time Low songs that followed this gem of an album. Some of these songs were re-recorded on future projects; however, the originals still hold a special place in the hearts of ATL stans everywhere, and that’s understandable! We love listening to this when we’re feeling nostalgic because they’ve come such a long way since then!

Unfortunately, this album isn’t available on streaming platforms, likely due to the re-recorded versions, but you can listen on YouTube – here! We’ve also provided a list of our top five songs from this album (that aren’t re-recorded elsewhere) in case you need a starting point:

‘Hometown Heroes; National Nobodies’
‘Noel’
‘We Say Summer’
‘I Can’t Do The One-Two Step’
‘Sticks, Stones, and Techno’

Put Up Or Shut Up

Put Up or Shut Up is an EP released July 25th, 2006, and five of the tracks on this one were the re-recordings of songs from The Party Scene. Full of bops and bangers, this EP set the bar high for all future All Time Low music, and it paid off in the best way possible. It’s got the typical pop-punk sound you would expect from the band but with a few ATL magical touches that create an unbelievable musical experience for the fans. We believe it will go down in history as one of the band’s most classic albums.

So Wrong It’s Right

This album gave us some of the greatest All Time Low classics of all time like ‘Dear Maria, Count Me In’ and ‘Remembering Sunday.’ It was released September 25th, 2007, and to say it was part of our early teenage years is an understatement – we wouldn’t have made it through without this absolute masterpiece. Their sound changes a little from the EP to this album, but only subtly to take it to the next level. It’s forever going to be one of our go-to ATL albums!

Nothing Personal

Okay, this beauty was released July 7th, 2009, and is one of All Time Low’s most epic albums. With hits like ‘Therapy,’ ‘Weightless,’ and ‘Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don’t),’ it’s a fan favorite for sure, including for us fans here at The Honey POP. This album has an all-star lineup of jams and not a single skip on the entire 12 song tracklist. This album radiates with fans far and wide, and to us, it feels like one of the most confident albums they’ve ever made. We still go hard to this album, and we don’t plan on changing that anytime soon!

Narrowing down the songs for this one was so hard, but we did it!

Dirty Work

Okay, we’ve been waiting to talk about this absolute gift from God! Is this our favorite ATL album? Um, YES, and we speak nothing but the truth here when we say that this is the best All Time Low album EVER! Released June 6th, 2011, this album is like the ultimate selection of songs it has zero skips and brings another level of hype for ATL fans for every song that plays. We love the hypnotic feel of this album, and we don’t know how we ever lived without this album because we breathe it in like oxygen – it’s an essential part of our being at this point, and we aren’t even mad about it!

Narrowing down these songs caused us physical pain, but alas, we did it, and we survived!

Don’t Panic

DON’T PANIC, this album still goes hard, and these songs are constantly stuck in our heads~ Released October 9th, 2012, it set the tone for the end of our high school career and got us through the stress of becoming adults (please, send coffee and naps.) We are the adults we are because of All Time Low, and for that we say, thank you. Life would’ve been dull without this album to keep us company, so it will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Future Hearts

Where do we start with this golden album? This beauty was released April 3rd, 2015, and it’s home to some of All Time Low’s most heartfelt and relatable lyrics to date. Everything about this album radiates sentimental and raw and we still to this day live for these songs. Our at-home karaoke sessions are never complete without singing at least one of the songs from this album – fan favorites and crowd-pleasers. We’ll always keep this album in our back pockets just in case we need a pick-me-up!

Last Young Renegade

This album may be All Time Low’s shortest but that doesn’t make it any less phenomenal. Released on June 2nd, 2017, this album shows a much more vulnerable side to the band with songs like ‘Ground Control,’ ‘Nightmares,’ and ‘Dark Side Of Your Room,’ but the emotional and raw lyrics are one of the things we love the most about this album. It’s probably their most experimental album they’ve done but it’s still the All Time Low that we love with more of a “crying in the shower at 2 AM because you’re in your feels” type of feel. We love that aspect of it, and always will!

Wake Up Sunshine

The newest masterpiece from All Time Low is this full-length album from 2020! Wake Up Sunshine is the band’s eighth studio album and consists of what we would call some of the band’s most incredible songs in their discography. It has the typical ATL sound that we’ve been addicted to since the beginning, but it showcases how much their sound has matured over the last 10+ years. It’s one of those albums that feels good to dance and sing along to no matter which song plays, and we are fully obsessed with it and probably will be for years to come.
