Binge-Worthy Buzz: This Week’s New Releases Are Great!

binge worthy buzz

Hi there, honeybees, and welcome to another edition of Binge-Worthy Buzz, a weekly moment here at The Honey POP where we come to the rescue of those in need of something new to watch. Every week, lots of new movies and TV shows come out, and no one has time to watch it all. That’s why we’re here to help you at least get started. Let’s dive in!

If you love a good action movie like us, then you know they wouldn’t be a thing without stunt doubles. You may have even heard of Eddie Braun, the main character of the documentary Stuntman. Eddie has been in the business of quite literally defying death for over three decades, and in this documentary, we get to see him try to accomplish the most dangerous one yet: the infamous Snake River Canyon rocket jump. Yeah, the same one that almost killed Evel Knievel. Adrenaline enthusiasts, this is for us! The documentary will be available on Disney+ this Friday, July 23.

How It Ends

Not your average post-apocalyptic movie, we assure you. How It Ends follows the story of Liza, a girl on her way to the last party before the world goes boom, but it won’t be easy to get there. Because it’s not enough that it’s the end of the world, her car gets stolen and she is running out of time. The movie just came out on Tuesday, July 20, and is available digitally and in select theatres.

Young Royals

A Netflix original straight from Sweden, Young Royals follows Prince Wilhelm after he gets sent to a fancy boarding school after royally messing up and having to publicly apologize to his country. Adjusting to life at the new school isn’t easy, but that’s part of what makes Wilhelm’s story good, and things do get better with time (for a while, at least). The show came out on July 1, and we have seen the internet lose its mind over how good it is. And with reason too, from the first scene, we’re invested in Wilhelm’s story and need to know what comes next. The first six episodes are currently on Netflix, and the show has already been renewed for a second season.

The Movies That Made Us

Last year, Netflix came up with the first season of this fun series where we get to look back at movies that shaped a generation (or more than one, to be honest). Season 1 analyzed Home AloneGhostbusters, Dirty DancingDie HardElf, and Nightmare Before Christmas; now, season 2 will feature interviews and analysis of Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Pretty Woman, and Forrest Gump. These four episodes become available on July 21, and since this show can be watched so quickly, we strongly recommend a marathon for all the movie nerds like ourselves.

Julie and the Phantoms

Yep, we’re bringing this one back. You know why? Because this show is one of the best Netflix has ever produced! Based on a Brazilian show from 2011, the show follows Julie Molina after she finds a ghost band in her garage after a year of not playing a single note herself. These three ghosts from the 90s help Julie a lot during the season, and she helps them just as much. Their bond is something truly special we all love to see. In conclusion, you all need to binge-watch the first season and Netflix needs to renew it for a second one. Thank us later.
