When Liam Payne started his shows last year on the Veeps platform, fans gathered in millions to enjoy these incredible performances from the man himself, as well as upcoming acts he’d discovered. You know Liam Payne the singer-songwriter, but did you see the interviewer and host? Here’s To The Future was a different show, focusing on new talents and let’s say, it was a complete success!
How Not To Cry?
Yes, this was a showcase for new artists but it didn’t mean that Here’s To The Future went off without Liam Payne’s performing content. As promised in his IG live earlier in the day with his cute puppy, he kicked off the show with the Jonas Blue and Lennon Stella collaboration, ‘Polaroid.’ As always, he gave us the energy to dance until he went very emotional on a beloved classic of One Direction, ‘18.’ How not to cry? He’s always blessing us with his note changes, interpreting the lyrics to perfection. We were impressed by his take at Niall Horan’s “We took a chonce” line. Again, Liam Payne proved how talented he is! Well done to our favorite Wolfie!
‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’
Reminiscing the old days, Liam presented the first act with some parallel lines. Spontaneously, he told us the story of how he sang ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ by Oasis at The X Factor boot camp. But the first act was supposedly singing it better than him? Mr. Payne, you’re all super talented in this world! So was the first act, Sam MacPherson. The Wolverhampton-born star chatted with Sam on a sweet Zoom interview talking about their musical projects. What a surprise it was for Sam MacPherson to see the touring guitarist of Oasis in the room with Liam. This was a precious moment to remember. We also have his superb performance recorded in a church, tattooed on our hearts! Sam performed three tracks, including one of our personal favorites, ‘Last Minute.’
Sweet Canadian Treat!
Jessia was the second act to take the stage. Sort of! For safety, the artist’s prerecorded their performances from their different locations. It was great to see Liam Payne choose acts from all around the world for his show. Our new darling Jessia represented the Canadian fans. Kicking off with her hit single, ‘I’m Not Pretty,’ she gave us a boost of confidence. Sitting in a blue car, we were stunned by her amazing presence. A few seconds before, she had a cute chat with Liam. She discussed her new musical ventures. She was so thrilled to be part of that show and her happiness radiated on our screens. She told Liam some good news. A new EP is in the works! Yay! What can we say about her set? It was sublime and her warm vocals brightened our days.
Starstruck With Marion Jola
Liam Payne Here’s To The Future showcase was dedicated to fans and to musicians, many of whom had difficult times during the pandemic. It was great to see how helpful this kind of show will be for these artists. He dedicated this next one to the Indonesians, a big part of the Liam Stan fandom. Marion Jola said out loud what every fan thinks. When she first met Liam through Zoom, she expressed how starstruck she was. Of course, who wouldn’t be being in front of the multi-talented singer? Her cuteness was palpable during the introduction interview. Liam should have his own talk show honestly. It was great to learn more about the experiences of these artists. Marion Jola sang in another language, but the energy she was blasting with her dancers was absolute fire, and adorable. We loved her set!
The New Amy Winehouse?
Rest in peace Amy Winehouse. It’s been already ten years since we lost her. As Liam Payne said, her spirit is still alive among some incredibly talented people. Olivia Dean from London is one of them. Live at the Moth Club, she haunted our houses with her soulful and sultry voice. She is more than a musician. We can consider her as our motivational teacher! She told us in the show to love ourselves in the first place. “Hold me close/Love myself, the most/Lately, I’ve been just what I need/Stole my heart and I’m gonna be my boyfriend, ” she croons dreamily on ‘Be Your Own Boyfriend.’ Undeniably, we pick this one as our favorite song of her performance! She’s also got a new record coming soon, and we got a little taste of it. Thank you for this Liam Payne and Olivia! Now, we are so hyped about these exciting new artists on the rise.
Sam Smith and Liam, Please Collab!
As fans, we always appreciate covers. In the past, Liam Payne smashed so many of them. He decided for the Here’s To The Future showcase, to play with our emotions and take on Sam Smith’s ‘How Do You Sleep?’ His heavenly notes hit us hard. We sobbed our tears out! We weren’t ready and we didn’t want the show to end. Liam closed the show with his first solo hit ‘Strip That Down.’ It’s always incredible to see his live approach. We love how Liam Payne brilliantly plays with the melodies. So let’s all raise our hands to the future and the new era coming for our sunshine!
