We are already seven months into 2021 and it is time for THP’s very own K-Pop roundup to make a comeback! We are here to bring you coverage of comebacks we especially enjoyed this month and releases you might have missed. K-Pop never leaves you to stave for content so we get it, it is hard to keep up with all the comebacks every month. We already covered the comebacks by Day6 EoD, BTS, SURAN, EXO D.O., ATEEZ, TWICE, and Dreamcatcher this month, so make sure to check these out!
But now it’s time to get into the comebacks and debuts you might have missed and we absolutely loved so they deserved to be known about!
ReviveR is AleXa’s newest album, containing tracks ‘Xtra,’ which is the title track, the instrumental version, and ‘Obsession.’ Our only complaint about the album is we wish there was more because we are obsessed! ReviveR perfectly represents what kind of amazing music AleXa can and does make, it’s a must-listen as the tracks are very catchy.
KINGDOM completely blew us away with their debut ‘Excabilur’ and the King Arthur concept! They came back with their second mini-album History Of Kingdom: PartⅡ. Chiwoo on July 1st and boy was that a comeback! The traditional concept and sounds of ‘KARMA’ made us even bigger fans of the rookie group.
You take an incredibly talented group and put it together with one of the best idol producers in the industry, and of course, you get an absolute masterpiece. ‘TESSERACT’ is an edgy and rock-influenced track produced by Hui from Pentagon and Minit. The drop of this song is not only so well-thought-of and one of a kind, but it’s also surprising in the best way possible.
DONGKIZ as they did in 2020, has released two singles in a span of a year, with their latest release being ‘CRAZY NIGHT’ off of their fifth single album CHASE EPISODE 1. GGUM. ‘CRAZY NIGHT’ has a very cute and chill concept. If you want to know who DONGKIZ is, this is the track to check out.
BM from KARD and his newest project brought forward a triple single, First Statement. Consisting of the three tracks ‘BROKEN ME (Korean Version),’ ‘13IVI,’ and ‘Body Movin.’ Now we heard ‘Broken Me’ before the final release, and were immediately entranced, and the other two tracks didn’t disappoint. We know this points to an unstoppable movement by BM, and we can’t wait.
(G)I-DLE‘s leader Soyeon finally made her solo comeback and what a comeback it was! The singer and rapper brought her full charisma and charm to the stage and ‘Beam Beam’ is a banger! But the rest of the mini-album didn’t disappoint us and Neverland at all. Especially the song featuring Bibi, which has us still shook.
Super Junior’s Kyuhyun
Kyuhyun is still doing his seasonal project and he understood the assignment with ‘Together.’ The light summer ballad put a smile on our faces and we haven’t stopped listening since! Keep the seasonal songs coming king!
SF9 is the first group participating in Mnet’s Kingdom to come back after the show. ‘Tear Drop’ dropped exactly a year after ‘Summer Breeze’ and showed us a much sexier and sensual side of the guys. With its minimal chorus, we couldn’t help but get addicted to this song. Also, the rest of the mini-album showed us sides of the group we hadn’t seen so far and we can’t help but love it all!
It’s been a minute since the SNSD member graced us with a new song and ‘Weekend’ is her response to current trends. The song is absolutely feel-good and makes every day feel like a ‘Weekend.’ We couldn’t help but put this on repeat. Can we also talk about the Naturally Blonde vibes this music video has going on?!
From DIA, Yebin releases debut ballad, ‘Yes I Know’ and it’s as sweet as her. It stands out amongst the dance hits that came out this summer, with its slower beats. The track is like a breath of fresh air in this summer heat, as is evident because of her lovely vocals. We can assume it will be on repeat for everyone this year.
Are we the only ones absolutely missing B.A.P.? We didn’t think so! Baby’s stay strong! But we are getting some solo comebacks here and there from the members and with Yongguk discharged from the military, a full group comeback is inching closer and closer *manifesting hard.* But for now, we got Jongup who brought us the Song Of The Summer with ‘US,’ which is an absolutely fantastic song that will get suck in your head. We certainly can’t help but sing this constantly!
Following the release of ‘Psycho4U,’ ‘Good Vibes Only’ is a total switch with both the sound and well, vibes of the track for GIRLKIND. ‘Good Vibes Only’ is the perfect track to dance along to wherever you may be, making it the perfect Summer track.
2NE1 how we miss you! But Minzy is trying to keep us going with ‘Teamo!’ She graced us with an absolute summer bop, so if you are in need of one? Our girl got you! Honestly, this song tastes and feels like summer through and through. The Latin influences in ‘Teamo’ will for sure get your hips moving and dancing, exactly what we need this time of the year.
Before their official comeback on August 9th, The Boyz took a spin at the vampire concept and released ‘Drink It.’ This sophisticated and addictive song could easily be a title track that just shows how everything they do, always has so much thought behind it. The music video, their take on the concept, the artistry, the vocals, the rap, everything about it is absolutely excellent.
Now, this release isn’t like any other. To put it simply, the concept behind the mini-album Produced by [myself] was to divide the group into three teams and each team would come up with a song. Fortunately for us, all three songs were released and they’re all amazing in their own way. Not only do they show the type of involvement the members have in their music, but it also shows their versatility as a group.
We are still trying to digest Shownu enlisting but thankfully MX has us covered with a new single! ‘Kiss or Death’ is the MX sound to a Tee! Strong raps, amazing vocals, and a killer chorus! The recipe for a mega-hit, we love to hear it. Also, the music video has an amazing concept we can’t get over! We need more asap.
AKMU is back with a huge album! NEXT EPISODE teams the sibling duo up with collaborators on every song and it makes for an amazing listen. The title ‘NAKKA’ teams them up with the one and only IU. Did someone order a #1 hit? We did for sure and it does not disappoint at all! ‘NAKKA’ is the electronic bop we needed. The rest of the album sees AKMU explore genres they haven’t before and all of them work brilliantly. As expected from YGe’s finest.
