This week, American rock band Badflower released their third single from their upcoming album This Is How The World Ends.
Badflower are a Los Angeles-bred and Nashville-based band that formed in 2014. Since then, the band released two EPs before sending shockwaves throughout rock with their 2019 full-length debut, Ok, I’m Sick. This gained the band huge success with their hit single ‘Ghost’ winning iHeartRadio Music Awards‘ Rock Song of the Year. The band have also toured with the likes of Shinedown, Nothing More, and Of Mice And Men, as well as performing at many well-know festivals all around the world!
The New Single
Since the announcement of their second album set to be released next month, Badflower have been slowly releasing singles and their latest one ‘Don’t Hate Me’ might be our favorites so far! This powerful track is super catchy, extremely passionate and quite frankly, a little relatable. The song delves into the feeling of wanting to change who you are in order to be liked by others. Which I’m sure we all have felt even if we don’t want to admit it. Beauty blooms from discomfort. The second we squirm at the utterance of a lyric or the echo of a guitar chord is the moment we learn about our limits and, perhaps, make a change in our lives. Badflower aren’t afraid of making anybody uncomfortable.
“It’s a lot of self-awareness, on the bridge, there’s a meta dialogue where I explain how I’ve changed my entire life and appearance to make somebody else like me more. I think I have experienced versions of trying to be something else for someone else throughout my life, I think everybody has.”
Josh Katz, lead vocalist and guitarist for Badflower
The Music Video!
The band also unveiled a music video alongside this new single. The video is a fun and entertaining one! At the start, the music video shows the band working in a clothing store and are clearly wishing they were anywhere else. The ‘Don’t Hate Me’ video then goes onto to show the band trying out a few different styles after seeing different people’s outfits when they enter the store. It’s a very enjoyable and hilarious video that also has a star stellar lineup with appearances from Awsten Knight of Waterparks as well as Grandson!
