Earlier this week, Machine Gun Kelly announced the title to his sixth album and released the first single, ‘Papercuts’!
Machine Gun Kelly is a super versatile artist and has recently been creating pop-punk music. This is nothing new to the artist, as he released a genre-bending album named Hotel Diablo back in 2019 and released music with rock bands since the start of his career. MGK has just announced that just like his last album, Tickets To My Downfall, he will be releasing his sixth album, Born With Horns, with Blink-182’s drummer Travis Barker.
The New Single
This week, Machine Gun Kelly released ‘papercuts,’ a rock song set to be a part of his sixth album Born With Horns. The song is more tame and relaxed but still has all of the fire of an MGK song. As he continues his expedition as rock’s newest superstar, MGK candidly acknowledges his constant struggles with fame and more. This hard-hitting song is one where Machine Gun Kelly talks about his experience with being in the public eye. The lyrics “They wanted them, but they got us” and “Demonized just because I was an angel face” show how MGK still feels like an outcast even while gaining major success and how poorly he feels the media treats him. We really don’t know how anyone could feel anything but love for this man!
For the music video, Machine Gun Kelly got renowned director Cole Bennett to create his first-ever rock video with ‘papercuts,’ and the results prove excellent! Just like many other MGK videos, it’s super intriguing. The video is a unique and different one, with a range of fun scenarios. The video features many various looks for MGK, including the artist walking around the sunset strip bald and shirtless, playing a comically sizeable pink guitar, and even a scene where Machine Gun Kelly looks very similar to Edward Scissorhands! It also features many strange moments, such as Machine Gun Kelly performing in a room of clowns and Aliens.
