Marvel’s What If…? Episode 3

Marvel is keeping us fed this year! Right now, our newest obsession is the What If series. So far, the first two episodes were amazing, giving us a super-soldier Peggy Carter and a Star Lord T’Challa, and now a new episode is coming to Disney+ this Wednesday. And with it, comes Loki. The God of Mischief will be the subject of the third episode, where Loki comes to Earth (again). We know very little about the plot of the episode, but if it’s got Loki, we’re sure we’ll all fall in love with it instantly. What we have heard is that this trip to Earth will be in an even more impressive fashion than the one from Avengers. Ahh, we can’t wait!

Halsey: If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power

What do you get when you combine the compelling story of a pregnant queen, with a killer soundtrack by Halsey? You get If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power. The struggles of a woman through her pregnancy and childbirth are the central point of this film. Look at the opening statement from the first trailer: “This film is about the lifelong social labyrinth of sexuality and birth. The greatest horror stories never told were buried with the bodies of those who died in that labyrinth.” If that doesn’t make you want to watch that movie in theaters immediately, we don’t know what will, honestly. And all that but with songs from Halsey’s latest album as the soundtrack!? Talk about having a vision for your work. No one does it like our goddess Halsey!

The Chair

This one takes place at a university. Specifically, the English department of said university. And it has Sandra Oh as the main character. Perfect already, we’d say, but let’s talk about the plot, shall we? Sandra plays the newest chair of the English department at a university, which would be great if everything about the department wasn’t falling apart. Enrolments are down, the systems are so outdated they could be called dinosaurs, and even the professors are having all sorts of issues. And that’s where Sandra Oh’s character comes in and has to fix everything to keep this boat from sinking for good. That should be easy, right? Of course not! It wouldn’t be a Netflix dramedy if it were! The show dropped on the streaming platform on August 20 and if we could only describe it with one expression, it’d be “binge-worthy.”

AHS: Double Feature

American Horror Story has reached its tenth season. Hooray! And this time, the season will take place in not one location, but two. By the sand and by the sea. There’s also aliens involved somehow. Trippy, confusing and wonderful as usual. And, of course, the stellar cast includes regulars such as Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe and newcomer (to the show, at least) Macaulay Culkin. This new season premieres on August 25 on FX. We cannot wait to see what Ryan Murphy and his wonderful team have planned for this season.

Good Omens

Okay, we know this is from 2019 and lots of people have seen it already. But a lot of people have not, and considering a second season was announced a while ago, we thought it was worth mentioning too. Here’s how things go in the Amazon Prime series: 6,000 years ago, an angel and a demon met in Eden and for some reason, formed a unique relationship despite what their respective sides would like them to have actually been doing. Flash forward to now, the antichrist is here and with him, comes the threat of Armageddon. But here’s the problem: too many characters love Earth too much to see it end up in a pile of burning goo, including the main characters, Aziraphale and Crowley, so they working to stop it from happening. The six-episode first season is currently available on Prime Video and you should definitely check it out if you haven’t already. After that, you can join us in waiting for season two to come around.
