Pierce The Veil frontman Vic Fuentes recently hopped onto Zoom to make one fan’s dream a reality. Clayton was diagnosed with glioblastoma last fall, an aggressive and terminal form of brain cancer. Despite his diagnosis, Clayton and his wife Lacy have been radiating positive energy. They’ve been on cute dates, family trips and have overall been living their lives to the fullest. Because they so ardently encompass what it means to be Living The Dream regardless of life’s challenges, LTDF couldn’t resist making his PTV dreams come true.
Below, you’ll find a 1-minute recording of some highlights from Clayton’s #DREAMDAY experience, courtesy of the Living The Dream Foundation. Clayton’s entire face lights up as the call begins, and he proceeds to talk Vic through some of his journey, from diagnosis to treatment. We get a quick snippet of the live acoustic performance of ‘King for a Day’ Vic put on for Clayton, then a wild Tony appears. Turns out Vic had arranged for the PTV guitarist to make a surprise guest appearance as a gift to Clayton. The two then invite Clayton to be their special guest the next time the band plays in his city. It’s an all-around wholesome experience.
So What Exactly Is This #DREAMDAY?
Basically, it’s a way to make terminally-ill music lovers’ dreams come true. The Living The Dream Foundation arranges with bands and artists to provide guests with VIP access to concerts and special events, behind the scenes meet-and-greets, hospital visits, surprise gifts, etc. More recently, #DREAMDAY has become a virtual experience, but LTDF will resume in-person Dream Days at all Danny Wimmer Presents festivals this fall.
The Living The Dream Foundation was founded by Scottie Somers in 2007. Born with Cystic Fibrosis, he found a voice and a strength in music and wants to provide that same sort of motivation to others like him. Over the years, children and young adults living with life-threatening illnesses have been able to meet artists like Andy Biersack and Oli Sykes through the non-profit, and attend some of the wildest music festivals.
Vic is actually the CEO and Co-Chairman of Living The Dream Foundation, having been appointed by Scottie in 2019. Prior to that, he was an LTDF Ambassador, and all of PTV has been working with the foundation for years.
I love being a part of this foundation because it is so tangible and real. It’s amazing that we actually get to see, in person, the faces of the people that we are trying to help.Vic Fuentes
He’s certainly been busy playing fairy godmother.
