[apple_music_ad artist=”Charli XCX”]
Yes, Charli XCX has been giving us content left and right, but she has brought out the big guns with ‘Good Ones.’
If ‘Good Ones’ is what we should be expecting from this new chapter of Charli, we aren’t prepared. The track is different if you’ve heard most of her past songs, as the backtrack was less Hyper-Pop and more Club-Pop, which isn’t a bad thing. It has more of a smoother bass to it but has the signature Charli XCX catchy vibe to it. Meaning you can play this at any party, and it will get everyone dancing. The track is something that you should treasure as you’re listening to it because the next thing you know is it’s over. Ms. Charli, please give us a longer version or maybe even some remixes?
You can check out ‘Good Ones’ here.
The MV Is As Good As It Gets
Did we also mention there is also an MV for ‘Good Ones?’ (Which you can find above) We find Charli really going through it as she mourns the loss of a past lover, but we get to witness as she realizes how far into the sadness she has fallen. Finally emerging, even if it just a little. The video, which was filmed in Mexico is so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. We can’t get over her amazing outfits and dance moves. No, but seriously, we’re still not over her funeral outfit.
But come on are we really surprised that Charli can make amazing catchy music? No. In fact, here are a couple of other ‘Good Ones’ that always get stuck in our heads.
‘Ringtone’ (Remix [Feat. Charli XCX, Rico Nasty, 100 gecs Kero Bonito])
Oh, what a combination of Cyber-Pop and just overall, talent. “Charli how does it go again?”
‘Lipgloss’ (Feat. CupcakKe)
More of a mature song, ‘Lipgloss’ has been stuck in our heads, and will most definitely never leave. Did we ever think there would be a collab between Charli XCX and CupcakKe? Nope. But now we’re wondering when will they release more music together.
You know we couldn’t have mentioned Charli XCX earworms without ‘Vroom Vroom.’ Whether you discovered this song from when she first released it, or because of TikTok, ‘Vroom Vroom’ is a certified earworm.
Off of Vroom Vroom, ‘Trophy’ has us hooked right from the start. It’s one of those songs that you know its gonna be a banger from the first line.
Much like ‘Break The Rules’ Charli had everyone eating out of the palm of her hands with ‘Boom Clap.’ It was also featured in everyone’s younger self, fave movie, The Fault In Our Stars.
‘1999’ – Charli XCX & Troye Sivan
You know for a fact even if you didn’t want to, ‘1999’ was stuck in your head in every situation. Plus Troye Sivan and Charli XCX recreating late iconic 90s moments is truly everything.
