BLACKPINK are truly dominating and show no signs of slowing down! After celebrating the group’s fifth anniversary this summer with a movie release, Japanese album, and more, we are now being blessed with Lisa’s solo debut! LALISA is the debut solo single album from the lead dancer and rapper and follows after Rosé’s debut R at the beginning of this year. Consisting of two songs – ‘LALISA’ and ‘Money’ – YG Entertainment said LALISA contains her own real name, as well as her confidence, pride, and love for herself. We stan that self-love agenda! Here are some facts that every BLINK needs to know about Lisa’s debut release.
Lisa recruited regular collaborators for her debut.

Given the fact BLACKPINK have had incredible releases that have amassed millions of streams, it’s no surprise that Lisa found trust in her frequent collaborators for her solo debut. The title track for LALISA was written by 24, Bekuh Boom, and Teddy Park (who has produced the majority of the girls’ releases,) while B-side ‘Money’ was written by 24, Boom, R.Tee and Vince.
She pays homage to her Thai heritage.

Born in Thailand, Lisa moved to Korea to debut as an idol but she has always carried around the pride of where she comes from. So it’s not too surprising that she chose to include some Thai influence in LALISA. In a press conference for the debut, she shared how she asked head YG producer Teddy to help include some Thailand-style beats. “I wanted to convey my feelings about Thailand, my hometown. We conveyed it very well with Thai choreography and costumes and traditional music into the dance break. This is my first solo, and I want to represent that I’m Thai to all the fans around the world.” Honestly, it’s a vibe and we are here for it.
Her fellow members were her biggest cheerleaders!

Being the third member to embark on a solo endeavor, Lisa said she could definitely feel the pressure, but she also received a lot of love from her fellow BLACKPINK members. Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé all came to visit and spend time with her during the four-day shoot, with Rosé even sending her a coffee truck for support. Friendship goals!
LALISA gives an authentic look at the artist.

Taking the center stage with all eyes on her, Lisa wanted to make an impression on her fans and listeners, so she showed a different and authentic side to herself. “I think LALISA shows the strength and confidence of my name. The special reason for choosing my name as the album name was because I wanted to capture my best looks. It means this solo album is me… It’s a good opportunity for me to finally let the world know, ‘This is who I am.’” And we love who you are, bb.
She knew her solo songs were meant to be as soon as she heard them.

Speaking in an interview with Billboard, Lisa shared: “I heard ‘Money’ first and told Teddy, “Oh my God, Teddy, I have to do this song, I want this to be my solo song.” And he was like, “OK, let’s do it!” And then we heard [an early version of] ‘LALISA,’ but the hook was another thing. Teddy had the idea to put my name in the hook. At first, I was like, “Whaaa… I think it’s kind of weird to keep repeating my name. How’s it going to sound?” And then we tried it, and it came out so cool. I really like it. I was like “Ugh, these have to be mine, I can’t give these to anyone.” *hugs the air as if to hug the song*” It was truly meant to be!
She upped her rap game for her solo debut!

Lisa is a rapper in BLACKPINK and loves hip hop, so it was natural that she wanted to include rap in LALISA, but she felt that she really had to up her game. “At first, when I heard the rap [on the demo], I was like, “Oh my God, I don’t think I can do this. I’m Thai — how can I rap in English that fast?” And Teddy was like, “No, you can!” I practiced for an hour, and after that, I went in to record. I pushed myself very hard to complete it.” We love a perfectionist, tbh.
She gained confidence while working on LALISA.

Lisa said that the number one thing she took away from working on her debut was the confidence she gained during the process. “When I’m with the other members, we rely on each other a lot. There’s a lot of things I learned during my solo prep that include things like leadership – I have to make all these decisions on my own. I hope I can carry this back into the group when we promote together.” We are so proud!
Overall, we are in love with Lisa’s solo debut. LALISA is a huge vibe and one of our fave releases of the year!
