Binge-Worthy Buzz: British TV Shows Edition

Binge-Worthy Buzz: British TV Shows Edition

Hello, honeybees, and welcome to the latest edition of Binge-Worthy Buzz, our weekly series where we recommend a list of new things to watch to all of you movies and TV shows lovers, like us. This time, we’re doing something a little different. We decided this week, we’d focus on shows coming just from the UK because truth be told, they know how to make some pretty awesome shows. Just ask anyone who’s watched Doctor Who. Now, enough of us talking, let’s dive in!

Sex Education

We mean this, guys, everyone should watch this show. Otis, Maeve, Eric and all their peers will be back this Friday, September 17 and we can’t wait. So many cliffhangers from Season 2 have been waiting to be resolved and now that the new season is here, we’re all hyped to see what happens next with our favorite British nerds.

The Night Manager

In case you haven’t guessed by the hundred times we’ve talked about Loki here, we’re huge fans of Mr. Tom Hiddleston. And when he isn’t playing the God of Mischief in the MCU, he also does some stellar work in other movies and shows, such as Crimson Peak and I Saw The Light. But our personal favorite has got to be The Night Manager. The main character, Jonathan Pine, is a former soldier turned hotel night manager turned intelligence officer, and we live for every thrilling second of it. If you’ve got Amazon Prime, definitely give this one a watch.

Derry Girls

Moving over to Northern Ireland, Derry Girls tells the story of a group of friends living in Derry, Ireland during the 1990s. These five girls go to a Catholic secondary school and have quite a lot to deal with, going from complicated love lives to just existing through the political turbulence of the period. It’s also really cool that the series’ creator, Lisa McGee, is actually from Derry! Excuse us, we’ll spend the next few hours on Netflix.

BBC’s Sherlock

You can’t go wrong with an adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most beloved character, Sherlock Holmes. Especially if we’re talking about Sherlock, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman starring as Holmes and Watson. Their on-screen chemistry really pulls the viewer into the story and we don’t even realize the episodes are over an hour long. It’s also worth mentioning how well the adaptations from the original stories set in the 1800s worked for modern-day London.

Outlander

Closing our list, we have Outlander, for all the time-travel lovers out there. The story starts right after the end of WWII, with Claire, a nurse who served away from her husband for years, coming back home. Once reunited, she and her husband, Frank, decide to go for a second honeymoon together to Scotland as a way to get to know each other again. Everything seems fine … until Claire ends up traveling 200 years back in time. The drama, the costumes, the characters, everything is perfect in this show.

And this is the end of this week’s Binge-Worthy Buzz! We hope you’ve enjoyed it and stay around to read more! If you want, you can comment your thoughts or tweet us @TheHoneyPOP!
