Stray Kids’ Seungmin has done so much as the main vocalist of the group. His unique tone and range truly make Stray Kids’ songs so special, and he only keeps getting better at what he does. If there’s one thing no one can deny about Seungmin it is how hard-working he is, and it adds so much to his natural talent. Here are just five times that he proved what an incredible singer and vocalist he is and why he deserves all the praise in the world.

In this list, we won’t be looking at Stray Kids songs such as ‘Ex,’ ‘Gone Away,’ or ‘My Universe,’ but more covers and performances outside of their discography. But those three songs are just some of the songs that are definitely worth checking out if you want to hear Seungmin’s voice in Stray Kids’ songs and don’t know them yet.

His Cover Of ‘Love Again’

Seungmin has covered many songs through the SKZ-Record series, and each one of them was simply a masterpiece. However, not many could cover a song by EXO‘s Baekhyun, much less ‘Love Again,’ and yet Seungmin absolutely owned the song.

It is a song that serves him so well and showcases so many sides of his voice. Again, Baekhyun‘s songs are so far from being easy to cover and to do them justice, but Seungmin did such an amazing job. He went from lower notes to higher ones, from chest voice to head voice. And he stayed true to the original song all while adding his own color to it with his voice. This is one of those moments that truly showed not only that Seungmin is an amazing vocalist but he can easily carry a song this difficult all by himself.

The Special Vocalists Performance At Seoul Music Awards 2021

At the Seoul Music Awards 2021, there was a special collaboration stage where several vocalists from different groups came together to cover Shinhwa’s ‘Once In A Lifetime.’ It included: Lia from ITZY, Hyunjae from The Boyz, Jongho from ATEEZ, Seunghee from Oh My Girl, Eunbi, and of course Seungmin. All of these vocalists are incredibly talented and shined but in his own way, Seungmin hit different that time.

Even though he just came in during the middle of the performance, his unique and clear tone simply shined among all those incredible voices. And the high notes he did were absolutely incredible and impossible to forget. Not only did he out himself as a vocalist, but he also clearly proved to be one of the best vocalists of the 4th generation.

Stray Kids’ Cover of BTOB’s ‘I’ll Be Your Man’

And talking about outdoing himself, of course, we couldn’t possibly leave this performance out when it comes to Seungmin’s vocals.

Not only covering BTOB’s ‘I’ll Be Your Man‘ is a challenge in itself, BTOB being one of the groups with the best vocalist out there, but Stray Kids decided to stay true to the original version and didn’t change a single note. In other words, they had to sing it in the original key of the song. And that’s enough said to know how impressive this performance was.

Seungmin truly owned his position as the main vocalist in this one. There are no words to describe how incredible he sounded and how much he shined in this performance. The ‘I’ll Be Your Man’ stage truly shows his incredible talent and especially his hard work, and just how far he has come as a vocalist. You can also see how much he puts of himself into the performance. At the end of the day, not many can cover a BTOB song as Stray Kids did, and Seungmin was a big part of it.

Mayfly’s Performance of IU’s ‘Love Poem’

In the third round of Kingdom: Legendary War, there were several units that combined three groups – Stray Kids teamed up with BTOB and ATEEZ. The vocal unit was composed of BTOB’s Eunkwang, ATEEZ‘s Jongho, and of course Seungmin representing Stray Kids.

Now, to say this cover of IU’s ‘Love Poem’ is a masterpiece is almost not saying enough. It’s the way their voices blend together and yet they all manage to have their moment and showcase their very distinctive and powerful vocals. And of course, Jongho and Eunkwang deserve their own amount of praise, but let’s focus on Seungmin for this once. The way he led the first chorus and the way everything quiets down during the bridge just to hear his voice singing is simply majestic. And it’s also worth pointing out he was the last one to sing, and he ended the song so beautifully. This is one of those performances that truly showed how good of a vocalist Seungmin is, and after watching this no one could ever deny it. The emotion in his voice is so unique. And the way he places his voice to blend with other voices and shine at the same time is incredible.

This performance is perfect in so many ways, and it was the combination of three incredible vocalists that we could’ve never even dared to dream about. ‘Love Poem’ is truly such a magical experience.

His Cover Of Sandeul’s ‘Stay As You Are’

And finally: Seungmin’s cover of Sandeul’s ‘Stay As You Are.’

Now, this might be a biased pick because Seungmin does have around 6 solo covers, including ‘Love Again’ and ‘Stay As You Are.’ And as we mentioned before, each one of them is incredible. But there’s something so special about this one.

It’s not just about how this cover shows the range in his voice, but more about the feeling he can convey with his voice. You can feel every single word in the song. And the way the song builds up with his voice and the feeling he gives to it is absolutely magical. That’s one of the main things about Seungmin‘s voice, other than his incredible wide range and unique tone, the feeling behind what he sings is always there. He always conveys so much through his singing, and he puts his heart into it. It’s something incredible that just can’t be duplicated. His voice and the feeling behind his singing are simply unique.

‘Stay As You Are’ is already an incredibly beautiful song when it comes to melody or lyrics. And that’s what makes this cover so special because Seungmin’s unique voice and talent at giving emotion to every single word he sings are shown here better than ever. This cover is a true statement of how incredible Seungmin is as a vocalist, performer, and artist.
