25 years! Days go by, but there are these timeless songs that stick in our heads. Oasis ‘Champagne Supernova’ is one of these that influence a whole generation of rockers and pop musicians. While waiting for the Oasis Knebworth 1996 live album and DVD/Blu-Ray, let’s show some love to this iconic track from the Britpop kings!
Do You Like It Grunge?
History knows that Britpop was the UK reaction to the US grunge movement back in the 90s. Taylor Momsen and The Pretty Reckless delivered their version of Oasis’ ‘Champagne Supernova’ at BBC Radio One Live Lounge in 2014. Delicate at first, we felt the raw and deep notes as soon as the crescendo of the song hits in. From Alanis Morissette to Hole’s Courtney Love-influenced vocals, this version also reminds of Joni Mitchell or Stevie Nicks’ 70s aesthetic. Listen below.
Where were you last year when the pandemic hit us? Lots of bands and artists started to comfort us with originals and covers. YUNGBLUD and Machine Gun Kelly made that amazing zoom rendition of Oasis ‘Champagne Supernova.’ All we can say is that the instruments and harmonies from both incredible artists teared us up! We drink to that!
The Piano Vibes!
We all know how Liam Gallagher’s songwriting is genius just like his brother Noel. It’s always so special when they cover their late band’s Oasis ‘Champagne Supernova.’ Two years ago, Liam performed on The Chillest Show on BBC Radio One. The stripped version with only piano and strings was purely magical! The nostalgic vibes and emotive rhymes are just iconic! This cover has that little something we were hooked to.
Rock’n’Roll Is Here To Stay!
As the 25th anniversary is happening, Oasis ‘Champagne Supernova’ appears on the new documentary Oasis Knebworth 1996. Unveiled on Monday, we can now watch the stunning performance that involved another icon from the 90s, John Squire, the guitarist from Stone Roses. Relive the energy of the most attended concert in Britain, the special crowd and this unforgettable moment!
