STAYC is a six-member girl group under High Up Entertainment and is yet another group to add to the growing list of KPOP groups we love. STAYC, an acronym for Star To A Young Culture, jumped into the KPOP scene in November of 2020 with their debut song ‘So Bad.’ Less than a year into their debut, STAYC’s debut music video sits at over 20 million views on YouTube. Since their debut, they’ve had three comebacks, jump-started a popular TikTok trend among KPOP fans, and have proved themselves to be all-rounders. There are so many reasons why we love this group, but here are our top five!
STAYC themselves come from a smaller label, but their sound and presentation are on par with many of the generational idols they’re up against. STAYC and their company work closely with iconic producer duo Black Eyed Pilsing who masterminded many hits for Twice, Apink, and Sistar. Black Eyed Pilsung are the kings of catchy beats and ageless music in many ways. STAYC’s debut with ‘SO BAD’ and their comeback with ‘ASAP’ were part of this production duo’s work. Black Eyed Pilsung describes STAYC’s vibe as “Teen Fresh,” we call it retro and insanely catchy!
2. Their Choreography
With every great KPOP comeback comes great choreography, and recently, STAYC’s has taken social media by storm. Their song ‘ASAP’ has risen up the ranks on TikTok and amassed over 45,000 videos under the official sound. Fans are having a blast with the choreography. Even other groups like ASTRO, MIRAE, and NCT’s Taeyong have covered the song’s choreography. And, really, it’s just so satisfying to watch!
3. Production Quality
Like every KPOP music video out there, STAYC’s production quality is on another level for a rookie group. The “teen fresh” concept fits them well and is consistent throughout all of their videos. Bright colors, bubbly pop music, and now the classic schoolgirl vibe with their recent comeback ‘Stereotype.’ The outfits, the different sets, the new themes for each video, they’re all so good and STAYC owns every single one.
4. Their Covers
STAYC’s vocals are no joke for a rookie group. The group’s vocals provide a consistent tone to their songs that fans love. All six of the members bring something unique to the table when it comes to their songs, but especially in their covers! STAYC has put out a handful of covers, including Dua Lipa’s ‘Don’t Start Now,’ Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘good 4 u,’ and Doja Cat feat. SZA ‘Kiss Me More.’ These covers are truly a treat for international fans and music lovers alike.
5. Their Versatility
Ok, so we’ve already mentioned their covers and choreography, but we can’t stress enough how insanely talented these girls are. They’re not even a year into their debut and they’ve already made some crazy moves. The power in their choreographies and their ability to execute different concepts is insane for a rookie group. Not only are they extremely versatile, but they’re all well-rounded in their skillsets. Some of the STAYC members even appeared in K-dramas before their debut!
These are just five of the many reasons we stan STAYC. There are many other rookie groups on the rise in the KPOP world that we love. STAYC has the potential to be one of the leading KPOP girl groups in the future, and the success they’re seeing as rookies is a huge sign of that.
We’re so excited to see what else STAYC will accomplish in the future! Until then, we’ll be learning the ‘ASAP’ choreography. What did you think of their comeback with ‘Stereotype?’ Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or on our Facebook and Twitter!
