5 Facts To Know About Elephante Since He Dropped His Euphoric New Single ‘Dopamine’

DJ, producer, and musician Elephante searches for an exhilarating rush in his new single ‘Dopamine.’ He sings about needing his dose of dopamine just to feel something and get a taste of euphoria. And we at THP can’t get enough of this song!

Returning to his energetic House roots, Elephante layers synths and floating vocals to create the pulsating track. He has been playing ‘Dopamine’ for over a year at his live shows and streams, and we are so glad to see its official release.

“‘Dopamine’ is about desire, about scratching the itch,” Elephante says. “It’s about wanting to experience the world at its fullest‒driving 150 mph down the highway, chasing your lover across the dance floor, taking that last shot that you know you probably shouldn’t‒whatever it takes to make you feel something.”

You can stream ‘Dopamine’ on various platforms right here.

‘Dopamine’ comes out ahead of his sophomore album Heavy Glow, which is set to release on October 22! If this is your first time listening to Elephante, we got you! Here are five things you need to know about him.

Elephante (Tim Wu) is the son of Taiwanese immigrants. He was born and raised in Michigan, and his love for music started at an early age. Wu graduated from Harvard University with a degree in economics and even worked in corporate before he pursued his passion for music.

His stage name “Elephante” refers to the idiom “the elephant in the room.” He described the so-called elephant as his unhappiness with working a corporate job. Now, Elephante is a wildly innovative producer, artist, and songwriter fusing melodic electronic dance music with pop, blues, rock, and other genres.

And can we just say, what a glow-up!

I Am The Elephante EP

He released his debut extended play I Am The Elephante in 2016. The EP features nine songs of progressive house, synthpop, and trap. We loved listening to so many different music styles mixed in all of these bangers! Some of our favorite tracks from this EP are ‘Dynasty’ with MIIA, ‘Catching On’ feat. Nevve, and ‘Goliath’ feat. Jody Brock.

Glass Mansion EP

Elephante dropped his second EP Glass Mansion in 2018. This EP also consists of nine songs with more guitar melodies than electronic instruments. One of our favorite things about Elephante is his range of music genres. This man does not disappoint! Our favorite tracks from Glass Mansion include ‘All Over Again’ feat. Knightly, ‘No Room For Lovers’ feat. Crystal, and ‘Otherside’ feat. Nevve.

2021 Singles And Upcoming Album

‘Dopamine’ follows Elephante’s previous singles ‘Holy Ghosts’ and ‘High Water.’ And the music video for ‘High Water’ was directed by 88rising! These songs share his personal experience during the pandemic and even go back to his younger years where he struggled with addiction.

Elephante’s three releases are more than enough to get us hyped for his upcoming album! Heavy Glow is sure to show us another side of Elephante, and we can’t wait to see what else he shares through his powerful music.
