We’ve gathered our top three favorites from The Script’s impressive discography to commemorate this big release. Without any further ado, let’s get started.
‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’
“Maybe I’ll get famous as the man who can’t be moved.
And maybe you won’t mean to but you’ll see me on the news.
And you’ll come running to the corner and you’ll know it’s just for you.”
There are very few songs that can send chills down your spine. There is something about Danny’s angelic voice that evokes deep emotions and transports us into a world of ethereal harmony. With its heartfelt lyrics and melodies, it is one of the best songs ever written by the band. This song reawakens all the feelings we suppressed in some corner of our hearts. Imagine if someone loved you so much they would wait for you every day at the street corner where you first met, until you came back.
In the music video, Danny walks through Downtown Los Angeles and waits patiently on the pavement while singing about waiting for a girl to come and meet him. As he made news and became a celebrity, crowds began to surround him, indicating his popularity. At the end of the video, we see Danny growing older but still waiting for his girl to come and meet him. This song focuses on honest emotions, compassion, selfless love, and letting fate decide the outcome!
We’re not crying, just our eyes are sweating!
‘Hall of Fame’
“Standing in the hall of fame
And the world’s gonna know your name
‘Cause you burn with the brightest flame.”
It is an empowering song that inspires people to believe in themselves and know they can succeed in anything they desire with hard work and determination, no matter how difficult it seems. The song is a good reminder that if we refuse to at least try to pursue our dreams, we’ll never succeed. The song’s lyrics focus on perseverance and making a difference. As a songwriter, Danny O’Donoghue is an excellent storyteller as he writes profoundly poignant lyrics. There’s an uplifting chorus in this piano-driven song with a beautiful, swelling melody. In the accompanying music video, the band members perform the song in a deserted warehouse, alongside an aspiring boxer and a ballet dancer with hearing loss. Check out below!
“I’m still alive but I’m barely breathing
Just prayin’ to a God that I don’t believe in
‘Cause I got time while she got freedom
‘Cause when a heart breaks no it don’t break even.”
‘Breakeven’ chronicles a relationship in turmoil where one person copes with heartbreak much better than the other. In the song, the artist describes the overwhelming pain one feels when they discover that their former lover has moved on, while they remain stuck in the past with their feelings. Danny O’Donoghue’s lush vocals and heartfelt lyrics are thought-provoking and convey a degree of raw emotion. It is a beautiful song that has managed to capture our feelings well. If you have ever been through heartbreak, you will understand what we mean.
“They say that things happen for a reason,
But no wise words gonna stop the bleeding
‘Cause she’s moved on while I’m still grieving
And when a heart breaks, no, it don’t break even.”
