Hello, honeybees, and welcome to the latest edition of Binge-Worthy Buzz, our weekly series where we recommend a list of new things to watch to all of you movies and TV shows lovers, like us. This week, we bring you recommendations of all kinds, from YouTube series’ to Disney+ documentaries. we have something for everyone.
This French dramedy definitely deserves more attention than it actually gets. The main plot revolves around a mother who lies to her entire family about a supposed illness in order to have them actually pay attention to her. Over the course of two seasons which are both available on Netflix, Elvira, the main character, continuously lies to everyone and keeps finding more elaborate ways to keep up the façade. How long will it last? Watch and find out, we don’t give spoilers here (at least not without a warning first.)
My Name is Pauli Murray
Hopping over to Amazon Prime Video, we cannot recommend My Name is Pauli Murray enough! This Amazon Original follows civil rights activist, attorney and priest, among other things, Pauli Murray as he fought for equality many many years before Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on that bus. This movie is not only the story of a great person, it also goes to show that the fight for equal rights has been going on much longer than we may think. And there’s just something wonderful about knowing this is mostly told in Murray’s own words.
You may not have heard of this one, but you’ll love it. Especially if you enjoy light stories that still talk about themes like friendship, growing up and dancing. The show, along with some others you should definitely check out if you enjoy Chicken Girls, is produced by Brat TV, a studio focused on making content for members of Gen Z. Available on Brat TV’s YouTube channel, Hulu, Roku and Tubi, Chicken Girls deserves all the praise for being entertaining, having lots of representation and giving their young characters and actors the opportunity to grow over the course of the story. Plus, the episodes are 15 to 20 minutes long and the seasons are pretty short too, so you’ll finish this in no time. The latest season just had its first episode released on October 26.
The World According to Jeff Goldblum
Reasons you should watch this one: it’s Jeff Friggin’ Goldblum! And who doesn’t love Jeff Goldblum? That’s it. That’s all you need to know. Who doesn’t want to see the world through the eyes of someone this creative and awesome? Only Jeff Goldblum would be able to take everyday items such as ice cream and then proceed to make us all look at it differently. Season one is currently available on Disney+ and the second one is set to drop on November 12, so you have plenty of time to watch the first 12 episodes before the new ones roll around.
Queen The Greatest
So, Queen. Greatest rock band to ever walk this earth, we all agree on that one, right? Good. Now that we’ve established that, who doesn’t want to see more of Queen’s history? That’s exactly what’s been happening with all of us who have been watching Queen The Greatest, a series of YouTube videos available on the band’s channel. For 50 weeks, a new snippet of their history is posted and we get to be amazed once again by the pure talent that radiates off these episodes. Currently on episode 33, we’ve been obsessed with every new thing we learn and can’t wait for what comes next.
