We at THP can’t believe December will mark ten years since Little Mix won The X Factor! Jade, Leigh-Anne, and Perrie are taking Mixers on a little trip down memory lane with ‘Between Us,’ a sweet ode to their time together and the growth they’ve worked for throughout their career. The second verse and chorus nod to several of their past hits, and fans are having so much fun decoding the references.
I love how we reference Little Mix songs in the lyrics. We feel each other’s emotions 24/7, we’ve gone through everything together. It’s about ten years of friendship and sisterhood and our amazing relationship with our fans.
Here’s a little rundown for those who didn’t pick up on the Easter eggs!
“Remember the day when we finally found our wings?”
Little Mix’s debut original single, ‘Wings,’ is a celebration of originality and staying true to yourself no matter what other people think. It’s an anthemic pop track that’s sure to get you dancing, and it’s been a staple on our mood-boost playlists since 2012! Leigh-Anne said in a track-by-track video:
It’s the introduction to Little Mix, it’s everything that we’re about, and it’s just an amazing message to all of our fans.
“It changed our lives…”
Another early LM empowerment anthem, ‘Change Your Life’ talks about brushing off criticism to fight for your dreams and ideal self. It draws from the girls’ experience on The X Factor and the emotional music video has footage from their first year as a group. Try not to cry while watching and thinking about how much they’ve grown!
“Gave us power to do anything…”
Few Little Mix songs are as empowering and energetic as ‘Power!’ The song is all about confidence and girl power, making it the perfect anthem for the band. We at THP also adore the bold music video with a remix by Stormzy! The girls brought their moms on set for a statement on feminism and women sticking together.
“We bounce back, every track, had your back…”
2019’s ‘Bounce Back’ is one of Little Mix’s bounciest songs to date, and we still can’t get enough! It interpolates Destiny’s Child’s ‘Independent Woman’ and Soul II Soul’s ‘Back to Life (However Do You Want Me),’ making it a fun throwback track with just enough modern pop elements. And in a cool crossover event, Normani helped write the song!
“We got history in all these sweet melodies…”
We’re still not over Little Mix’s ‘Sweet Melody’ and its gorgeous music video from October 2020, and we love that the girls nodded to a more recent fan-favorite on ‘Between Us.’ The track describes a relationship with a fellow musician who hurt them to the point where “the song couldn’t go on.” We love the vulnerable lyrics and cool beat drop!
