Pom Pom Squad’s ‘Until It Stops’ Is The Anthem We All Needed

Pom Pom Squad has dropped a new single, ‘Until It Stops’ as part of Spotify Singles x Fresh Finds, and we can’t stop listening to it! Have you ever gone to a party and felt out of place? Or experienced FOMO from social media showing everyone seemingly having the time of their lives? This angst-filled anthem is for you. Produced by Sarah Tudzin (of illuminati hotties), the single takes us through the emotional journey of reluctantly attending a party.

It is my version of a drinking song. I’m not much of a partier but I’m in my early 20s, so whenever I turn down an invite to go out I go through an internal dialogue wondering if I’m missing my youth. Then, when I actually do go out, I get uncomfortable and then I drink too much and put my foot in my mouth and go home with all my makeup under my eyes. At the time I wrote this I was thinking about those super sugary club songs of the 2000s that always seemed to mention dancing and death in the same line– there is this strange morbid connection between partying and mortality.

Mia Berrin, Pom Pom Squad

With lyrics like “You’re only laughing ’til you cry/You’re only living ’til you die/And you’re only here until you’re not/It only hurts until it stops,” this sentiment rings more than true. Mia Berrin’s vocals, a catchy chorus that makes us want to sing our hearts out, and the fun instrumental are all standouts. A singalong that makes us feel like we’re at a party ourselves concludes the track, and just like that, Pom Pom Squad has done it again.

The indie rockers have made a breakthrough with the release of their 2021 album Death of a Cheerleader, which we highly recommend you check out if you haven’t yet. It’s one of our favorite releases of 2021, and includes fan favorites ‘Head Cheerleader’ and ‘Drunk Voicemail.’ Grunge and pop-punk elements abound, and if you’re a fan of 90’s/early 2000’s media, you’ll enjoy all of the influences from films like The Virgin Suicides, But I’m A Cheerleader, and Heathers.

We’d love to hear your thoughts! What’s your favorite Pom Pom Squad song? Will you be getting tickets to their upcoming 2022 tour? Let us know in the comments below or over on our Twitter @TheHoneyPOP and Facebook!
