Halsey is the very definition of a Genius, everyone stans them in some way, shape, or form. If you think you don’t, you do. We have been fans of her for a very long time, following them on their artistic journey through every EP and every album. We thought we’d celebrate Halsey’s artistry (and it gives us a good excuse to gush about how much we love them.)
Badlands was Halsey’s debut album released in 2015, after spending her life promoting her songs on all kinds of social media platforms. She has always had strong messages throughout her albums. The dystopian future society known as The Badlands showcases a great story song by song that also described their mental state at the time of writing the album. With hits like ‘Ghost,’ ‘New Americana,’ ‘Colors,’ and ‘Castle’ all being certified platinum in the US. Badlands itself was also certified two-times platinum by the RIAA.

Hopeless Fountain Kingdom
In the summer of 2017, we were blessed by the release of Hopeless Fountain Kingdom. This album has an undeniable message of love and loss, based on the story of Romeo and Juliet. Halsey became the first woman to achieve a number one album in 2017, due to the success of the album and it being certified Platinum by the RIAA. ‘Bad at Love’ was certified four times platinum by the RIAA and peaked at number 5 in the US. Hopeless Fountain Kingdom has been described as a more “radio-friendly” album compared to Badlands, but we will be blasting both albums from every speaker we can get our hands-on. We don’t need radio approval.

Juice WRLD, YUNGBLUD, and BTS! ‘Without Me’ was released in 2018, which has become their most successful single as a lead artist to date. It was certified three times platinum in the US, platinum in the UK, and five times platinum in Australia and Canada. During this era, Halsey released her first poetry book called I Would Leave Me If I Could in June 2020. Manic is their first album written by Ashley rather than Halsey, as she would say.

If I Can’t Have love, I Want Power (The Album)
If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power takes no prisoners, produced with the help of Nine Inch Nails it has a rockier sound than Halsey’s previous albums. She has described the album as “a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth.” There are some heavy themes throughout the album. Feminism being the overruling message, it tackles the patriarchy and institutionalized misogyny. If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power was Halsey’s fourth consecutive album inside the US Billboard 200. It reached the top 10 in multiple other countries including; Australia, Switzerland, and the UK. The artwork for the album was inspired by the 1452 Renaissance painting Virgin and Child Surrounded by Angels. She said she aims to uproot the stigma around breastfeeding and women’s bodies.
- ‘The Tradition’
- ‘Bells In Santa Fe’
- ‘Easier Than Lying’
- ‘Girl Is A Gun’
- ‘You asked for this’
- ‘I am not a woman, I’m a god’
- ‘The Lighthouse’
If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power (The Movie)
This movie is nothing short of legendary. We watched it when it was released in cinemas and again when it was announced it was being released on Moment House for a couple of days. Directed by Colin Tilley, the storytelling is fantastic. Following the story of Queen Lila, we see her go through the trials and tribulations of life alongside the demon inside of her. She creates and takes life whilst seemingly running away from the abuse and manipulation she was facing under the power of royalty. There are plenty of hidden messages throughout, however, no one other than Halsey themselves knows how many there are.
If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power didn’t feature much speech so relied heavily on the visuals and the storytelling to carry the movie. However, it did feature 10 songs from the album, which helped set and understand the scenes.
About Face Beauty
About Face Beauty (AF) was created in January 2021. When we say Halsey is multi-talented, this is exactly what we mean. Having a make-up brand that celebrates individuality and encourages experimenting with color, texture, and pattern is everything we need in our lives. The make-up is suitable for everyday natural looks whilst also being bold and bright enough to do anything your heart desires. Halsey has been using her own line since before it was released and continued using it even in her movie. AF always has something going on too, which keeps the excitement alive. New releases, sales, bundle deals, free shipping, the list is never-ending. It’s a brand that allows us all to break boundaries.

Halsey has shown their versatility across all their albums, so we can bet there is going to be something for everyone somewhere in her music. Being able to create music, perform live, make movies and launch a makeup brand, they have never failed to impress us. In conclusion, there is nothing Halsey can’t do. With every album release and every tour, we cannot express how much we adore Halsey’s art. We feel like it should be noted that Badlands and If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power are like siblings in terms of sound, whilst Hopeless Fountain Kingdom and Manic are also like siblings.
