Ashton Irwin has been taking up a huge portion of hearts since, well – forever. As one of our favorite drummers, band members, vocalists, and all-around exceptional human being, he’s constantly living in our heads rent-free and is a part of all the things we love! He’s one of our biggest inspirations and role models, so is it that surprising that every time we listen to music, we always find a song that reminds us of him? Nope, not even a little bit.
If that has piqued your interest, you are in luck because we have compiled a list of ten songs that remind us of the beautiful soul that he is and why those make us think of him. So, 5sosFam, whenever you’re ready, let’s dive in!
‘Dreams’ – Fleetwood Mac
Ashton did a cover of this song way back in 2017 on an Instagram live/story. We haven’t been able to get it out of our heads since, and it’s even more special since his solo album Superbloom has such retro vibes to it! It’s forever going to be a classic for us!
‘Shine’ – Jagwar Twin
Ashton is a diamond shining bright in this dark world. He radiates such a positive energy of love and light, and we felt like this song perfectly encapsulates him as a human being.
‘Heart Shaped Box’ – Nirvana
It’s clear to us that this is one of Ashton’s favorite songs! He’s a big Nirvana fan and even covered this iconic song live on Superbloom: A Live Concert Experience. While we also love Nirvana, as far as we’re concerned, this song is Ashton’s now.
‘Ordinary People’ – John Legend
This song made our list for one reason – ASHTON COVERED THIS SONG ON YOUTUBE! It was short, but it was glorious, and now whenever we hear John’s version, we tear up a little at the nostalgic memory of a young Ash stepping out of his comfort zone and blessing our ears. Now he’s got a solo album, he’s come a long way, and we couldn’t be more proud!
‘Dream Boy’ – Waterparks
WE ARE SIMPS FOR ONE MAN, AND THIS SONG NEEDS NO DESCRIPTION BECAUSE IT’S IN THE TITLE! Ashton would be our dream boy, and every time we hear this song, we can’t help but think of him. RESPECTFULLY – DATE US!
‘Now I’m In It’ – HAIM
It’s not a secret that Ashton has had mental health struggles in the past, he’s human, and that’s okay! This song makes us think about all the things he has had to overcome in his life, but look at where he is now! We love seeing how much he loves himself now, and that’s all we could ever ask for.
‘Gorgeous’ – Taylor Swift
Does this song need a description? As we mentioned, we are simps for this man, and we can’t help but think of him when we listen to it (you know besides the blue eyes part.) Still, it describes all the things we’d tell him if we could, and we will never NOT think of him now when we stream this banger.
‘Always’ – James Arthur
This one is more of our dedication to the man himself. He’s gotten us through some tough, dark times, and we want him to know that he is never alone no matter what he goes through in life. It’s us against the world, and we are always going to be there for him just like he was for us!
‘Here Comes The Sun’ – The Beatles
This may be obvious to some, but Ashton is the sunshine in most of our lives. So every time we hear this classic, we can’t help but think of Ashton and his radiant energy that makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
‘Fix You’ – Coldplay
Ashton is known for being a “wordsmith of sorts.” We can always depend on him for some words of encouragement, motivation, or even a bit of tough love when it’s needed. This song feels like Ashton writing a letter to fans bestowing his philosophical wisdom on us, and it always reminds us of him when we hear it. In the words of Joey Tribbiani, he’s pretty “wisdomous.”
There you have it, ten songs that remind us of Ashton Irwin! We hope you liked our song selections, and we’d love to hear from you! Which of these songs do you think fits Ashton the most?
