The holiday season is finally upon us, and we at THP are so excited to dive into the celebrations! With the pandemic still hanging around like a dark cloud and distance separating us from some of our best friends, we’ll all have to get a little creative this year. Luckily, we have some fun ideas for celebrating the holidays with your friends, fandom-style! Here are some ways you can get festive, whether you live near each other or across the world.
Attend Or Host A Discord Event
Discord has been thriving and it’s so easy to bring your friends together on the platform! You can host trivia nights, listen to a festive playlist, or just hang out on a voice call to spend time together. You can even invite your friends to join The Hive, our Discord server dedicated to bringing different fandoms together in one fun space! We’ll be hosting several events during the holiday season, including a Christmas party on December 18th, and we’d love to have you.
Fandom Secret Santa
Whether you’re buying physical gifts, sending merch, or making cute edits like lock screens for each other, Secret Santa is a holiday classic that you can totally bring to your fandom friend group! If you’re feeling especially festive, you could go all-out with fun wrapping and decorations like Taylor Swift:
Have A Zoom Watch Party
You could watch a holiday movie, your faves’ tour DVD, or some festive music videos over Zoom! To make it extra fun, get cozy in some holiday pajamas and grab some milk and cookies for a special snack. If you need music video ideas, we recommend The Vamps’ version of ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas,’ which has a rocking twist you won’t expect.
Holiday Dress-Up Party
If you wanna meet up with your friends for a holiday party, assuming it’s safe to do so in your area, you could have a fancy dress party where you dress up as a festive version of your faves! Our recommendations include Ariana Grande’s Santa outfit from the ‘thank u, next’ music video, Elsa or Olaf from Frozen, and One Direction’s cozy sweaters from their appearance on The Tonight Show in 2014:
Send Cute Cards
Whether you make them yourself or order them from a fan-run business, it’d be adorable to send your friends some sweet cards with their faves! You could also include stickers, photo cards, or fan art for an adorable surprise.
