Are you looking for your next great superhero? Look no further than Bree Matthews in Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. She’s 100% a totally normal college student that just wants to be left alone, but, somehow, her life gets turned upside down and she is involved in a magical war on her campus. Deonn wrote an amazingly, fierce leading lady whom we can relate to and root for as she figures out the world around her.
This is not Disney’s Sword in the Stone or King Arthur legends’ that we are all used to hearing. This story is fantasy to its fullest with Arthurian lore twisted in ways that you will never expect. Demons, gore, witches, hunky blonde boys and morally grey mages – what more could you want? We’ll wait…
Yes, this book is totally a fun ride with its fantastical elements, but it has a lot of soul and real-life situations that make it a compelling read. Bree’s tale is eye-opening, educational and really makes you think. In our opinion, making it the perfect mix of a fantasy book!
Selwyn Kane… If you don’t already know that name, you should, he will be your new book boyfriend. He’s everything morally grey that you could hope for and so much more. Plus, when the paperback of Legendborn releases on 1 February 2022, we are finally going to be let into his snarky little head – all hail Tracy Deonn for gracing us with that bonus chapter!
Finally, look at this cover for the second book Bloodmarked arriving 8 November 2022. Bree is fierce on the cover of Legendborn, but Bree and Sel together are ready to take on the world in Bloodmarked, so don’t you want to be part of that journey?
While you’re waiting for Bloodmarked to come out, maybe we can remind you about another fierce female you may have forgotten about – Katniss Everdeen. Check out 5 Reasons Why You Should Re-Read The Hunger Games Trilogy here.
