There are so many reasons we adore Rebecca Black, and as much as we’d love to gush about her all day, we at THP don’t want to hold you hostage by your screen. So we’ll try to put it plainly: Rebecca has all the makings of a pop superstar. Between her clever lyrics and the awe-inspiring sound on all of her songs, it doesn’t make sense that she isn’t one of the biggest names in music. And if you’re not convinced, here are four songs that prove her talent!
‘Read My Mind’ Featuring Slayyyter
With the addictive vocal style of hyperpop and guitars reminiscent of the current pop-punk revival, ‘Read My Mind’ is everything we love in one song! Rebecca recruits her friend Slayyyter for a nighttime love story you won’t get out of your mind. We’re also not over the fun music video, which sees the girls ditching their job at a rest stop to spend time with a flashy biker. The aesthetics? Hello? We wouldn’t mind going to a gas station if it wound up being that glamorous!
Slayyyter has been one of my favorite artists over the past few years and I loved every second of making this song with her!!! After perfecting this song over the course of a year, it’s magic, it’s fantastical and everything I’d hoped for to kick off this new era. Stan! Glam rage is here!

‘Personal’
‘Personal’ is a Charli XCX-esque anti-love song that sees Rebecca shrugging off a casual partner’s deepening feelings. She gives them permission to feel angry at her and promises not to “take it personal,” which is such a unique take on the unrequited love trope we’ve heard about in countless songs. The track appears on her aptly-named debut EP Rebecca Black Is Here, which we at THP have had on repeat since it came out!
‘Do You?’
The electronic-tinged vocals on ‘Do You?’ are really something straight out of a dream! Rebecca knocked it out of the park with this gorgeous lament of a relationship gone sour. Sonically, it reminds us of Billie Eilish’s earlier work like ‘hostage’ and ‘when the party’s over.’ Rebecca told Billboard:
We just started on a beautiful piano melody with these indie chords that were even weirder than what’s in the song now. At the time I was figuring out my relationship and feeling really used and taken advantage of. I love songs that actually feel like the feeling, whether your heart is pumping or you’re feeling confused.

‘Friday (Remix)’ Featuring Dorian Electra, Big Freedia, And 3OH!3
Of course we have to throw it back a bit with this next-level remix of ‘Friday!’ Between Dorian Electra, Big Freedia (who previously worked with Kesha), and 3OH!3, we don’t know how the stars could have aligned for this star-studded collab. But we’ll gladly stream the end result from Friday to the weekend to eternity. It’s such a fun spin on the song that introduced us to Rebecca that celebrates how far she’s come in her career!
