This year, the internationally adored K-Pop group ATEEZ, comprised of members Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho, electrified us with their impressive performances, exquisitely crafted music, and more. From their appearance on Kingdom to their latest release, ZERO : FEVER EPILOGUE, this group is non-stop. They even re-entered the Emerging Artist Billboard Chart at No. 1 this past September for the first time in their careers, and we don’t doubt they’ll continue to top the charts next year at the pace they’re going! So, to celebrate them setting 2021 on fire, let’s hit pause and hit rewind on some moments from their year. So raise your Lightinys, and let’s get started!
‘WONDERLAND’ but make it pirate! The stage no one knew we needed but now can’t imagine living without. ATEEZ stole the show with their spellbinding performances and marvelous arrangements round after round. The original version of their song ‘The Real’ was released on this show as well and ‘The Real – Heung Version’ was just released on their album ZERO: FEVER EPILOGUE. Trust us, you’ll be adding both to your playlist.
Yep, this is hands down one of the coolest collaborations to happen this year. The anime series Digimon Adventure and ATEEZ teamed up to release the show’s newest ending theme. And the group had even more to celebrate since ‘Dreamers’ was their first Japanese release! The single album also included the instrumental version of the track, as well as the airy track ‘Blue Summer,’ and an acoustic version of ‘Still Here.’
Be My Lover With Kim Jong Kook
Co-written by leader Hongjoong, ‘Be My Lover’ is a sweet love confession sure to make you smile. Seriously, this has to be one of the brightest and happiest music videos we’ve ever seen. This collaboration with vocal legend Kim Jong Kook is from their single album Season Songs, which includes two other tracks. ‘Be My Lover’ also heralded Mingi’s return after his hiatus. We’re happy to see him back performing with the other members!
A Little Space With Pentatonix
The collaboration we dreamed of came true! Yunho, San, and Jongho worked with the renowned group Pentatonix to create this catchy track. Pentatonix’s beautiful acapella magic melds perfectly with the trio’s superb vocal skills. Now we just need to see this collab performed live!
Amazon Music Fundraiser: Identity 2021
The group participated in the Amazon Music online fundraiser streaming event, Identity 2021, for Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. All funds raised supported the Gold House’s AAPI Community Fund and Pacific Bridge Arts’ musical scholarships. And we just might have their legendary cover of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s ‘Leave The Door Open’ playing on loop.
Summer Taste Pepsi Ad
The feel-good summer song that we never expected to come from a Pepsi advertisement. ‘Summer Taste’ brings together ATEEZ, RAIN, Monsta X, and Brave Girls to create one legendary performance. Hongjoong, and Yunho’s power vocals add a shine to the track that only they can accomplish. If anyone can make us choose to replay an ad over and over again, it’s ATEEZ.
ZERO : FEVER Part.2
‘Fireworks (I’m The One)’
Their sensational continuation of the album ZERO: FEVER Part.1, with the epic title track ‘Fireworks (I’m The One)’ written by the multi-talented kings Hongjoong and Mingi. A cool fact that Atiny’s will know is that their music videos are connected, and that tradition continues with this MV. Powerful performers, incredible songwriters, passionate dancers, they have it all!
ZERO : FEVER Part.3
A fantastic EP that packs a punch, Atinys were given the unique opportunity to choose the title track by voting. How cool is that? Ultimately ‘Deja Vu’ won the vote, but ‘Eternal Sunshine’ later became the second title track as well. Both are addictive songs you’ll be dying to learn the words and choreography to. Adding onto their list of accomplishments, ZERO: FEVER Part.3 debuted at No. 42 on the Billboard 200 chart!
No, we’re still not over this music video.
This song is literal sunshine in a bottle. We don’t know how they harnessed the actual sun but we’re certain they did.
ZERO : FEVER EPILOGUE
It gets even better! The group released their latest album in December of 2021, and it proceeded to debut at No. 73 on Billboard 200 chart, their second entry onto the chart after ZERO: FEVER Part.3. This album also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Remember when we said the only way is up for ATEEZ? Yeah, we meant it.
‘Turbulence’ sets a mellow and self-reflective tone for the album. From the lyrics to the melody to the music video, it’s a song impossible not to love.
‘The Real – Heung Version’
Now, “this is what we call style.” ATEEZ’s high energy pops through the screen and makes us feel like we’re joining in on the celebration.
Wooyoung: Artist of The Month
Wooyoung was chosen by Studio Choom as the Artist of the Month for June 2021. Artist of The Month shows “K-POP Artists’ dance philosophy” and includes performances from the selected K-Pop artist. Watch his insightful and inspiring video, then check out his arresting dance cover of ‘Bad’ by Christopher.
ATEEZ World Tour The Fellowship: Beginning Of The End
And the best part is you now have the chance to see them live! After being postponed due to COVID-19, their world tour—The Fellowship: Beginning Of The End—will kick off on January 7th, 2022, in Seoul and will end on March 1st, 2022, in Madrid. There will be six U.S. tour stops at Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, Newark, NJ, Dallas, TX, and two dates in Los Angeles, CA (an additional LA show has been set for January 31st, 2022 due to high demand.) We’re happy to know that ATEEZ will be reunited with Atinys all over the world very soon!
ATEEZ On Showterview With Jessi
This list wouldn’t be complete without their interview with Jessi. She is known for making her guests feel comfortable enough to be themselves and that is also the case with this interview. They play a few games at the end too!
ATEEZ constantly produces remarkable, vibrant music and have repeatedly left us speechless with their phenomenal stage presence. This passionate group of artists achieved so much this year, and we encourage you to dive into their full discography if you haven’t already. We’re eager to see what spectacular creative projects ATEEZ will bring to the stage next year, but until the clock strikes midnight and rings in 2022, we’ll have their tracks on repeat to end the year right!
