We held out hope in the New Year that 2022 was going to be better than 2021. Halsey made sure that would happen right away. By releasing an extended version of their album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, she’s already claiming 2022 as her year, and we are here for it. The album itself was already everything we ever dreamed of, but to add a brand new song and a reprise of an older one?! We couldn’t be more excited.
Let’s ease into the excitement. First of all, Halsey dropped visualizers for every track on the original version of If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. They didn’t have to go that hard for us, but they did, and we are so grateful. She also released a live performance of ‘Nightmare,’ which is probably the best thing we have ever seen.
Do you remember when Halsey released ‘Nightmare,’ and we all fully believed it was the start of a new “punksey” era? We knew that when ‘Nightmare’ came out, it deserved to be on an album. And we are so glad it finally got its chance. ‘Nightmare (Reprise)’ was added to If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power too. As if the song wasn’t pop-punk enough, they added what can only be described as a dramatic, heavy dance sound and a lot more drums.
Now we’re on to the really good stuff, just in case that wasn’t enough for you. ‘People Disappear Here’ is a brand new song on the album. If you’re a bass fan like us, this one is for you. The slow, almost sensual, but very vibey song is the perfect addition to If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. It fits so well into the album with its “rough around the edges” sound and dark lyrics. We would consider it more of a power song than a love song, but you can make your mind up about that yourself. Halsey really gave us another badass anthem, and we didn’t even ask for it. You can pre-order the extended version of the album here.
Finally, in case you missed it, the movie is available to buy and/or rent on a lot of different platforms now. We begged for this to happen for months on end, it finally happened, and we have been watching If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power at least once a day just to express our gratitude.
