From being on the Coachella lineup for 2022 to joining the charts with bbno$ on ‘edamame,’ Rich Brian is on fire! Nearly two years after the release of his 2020 EP 1999, Brightside was officially released on January 20th. The four-track EP is composed of four new songs. They all display different sides of what Brian may have in store for the future. Take a minute to listen to the EP yourself here!
A Deeper Dive
From these tracks alone, we see some slower, more melodic sounds with ‘Sunny.’ It’s the perfect song for a sunset drive! With ‘Lagoon,’ we get two entirely different tempos, with a shift in the mix which we’re all here for. Speaking of tempo switches, we can hear some of that with ‘New Tooth’ as well. Rich Brian digs into introspective thoughts on a lot of these tracks, which we love.
‘Getcho Mans’ features fellow Indonesian rapper, Warren Hue as the only featured artist on Brightside. While both rappers have collaborated on Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings: The Album, we’re stoked to see the duo collaborate on more music. The track itself features a lively beat accompanied by incredible, rapid-fire verses from both artists.
It Doesn’t Stop There!
Rich Brian has experienced a great deal of success and exposure in the past couple of years. From becoming a key role of Asian/Asian American platform and label, 88rising to being a headliner at 88rising’s Head In The Clouds Festival since 2018, the triumph doesn’t stop there. With his collaborations with Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings: The Album, Brian joined forces with huge names in the rap game. From collaborating with icons like 21 Savage and Rick Ross, Rich Brian shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
