There are few things we at THP get more excited for than a new release from our favorite artists, but a clever rollout might just be higher up on our list. Successful teasers and announcements can make a release way more exciting, giving artists fresh ways to connect with their fans while also drumming up hype for their upcoming projects. It’s a win-win: we get content, they get streams!
Here are some of our favorite ways that some of our favorite acts have gotten us prepared for new single releases. Artists planning to drop songs this year, take notes! Our faves have tested these methods and proved that they work in the best ways imaginable.
We would’ve been excited for Nicki Minaj’s ‘Bussin’ with Lil Baby either way, but Nicki’s unique announcement was the icing on the cake. She took to Stationhead, the hottest new innovation in online radio, to talk to fans directly and give them a heads-up about the release.
Anyone can start their own radio show on Stationhead, and we love that Nicki is not only supporting such a cool platform but also using it to get closer to her Barbs. It’s a worthy successor to her Queen Radio series, just like how ‘Bussin’ is a worthy successor to ‘Do We Have A Problem?.’
Tate McRae is all we wanna be, and she proved just why when she teased the amazing ‘she’s all i wanna be’ on TikTok. After weeks of snippets, questioning whether she should drop it, and asking fans to pre-save it to help convince her team, she finally released the song for us to enjoy in its entirety!
Tate showed off her persistence, connection with her fans, and incredible talent all at once by getting fans involved and keeping us posted on the release process. What a clever and creative queen!
With A Pop-Up Mural
If you’re anything like us at THP, you live for Swifties’ questionable theories about Taylor Swift’s new music. Whether it’s the cryptic “5 holes in the fence” post that suggested a music countdown or trying to figure out which Taylor’s Version re-recording is coming next based on how many exclamation points Tay uses in a post, it’s just so fun to follow.
It’s pretty rare that we get it right, but we’re still not over the fact that we accurately guessed a random butterfly mural in Nashville was actually tied to Taylor! She teased ‘ME!’ with a colorful painting showing her three cats, rainbows, and the pastel color palette that the Lover album embodied.
