You Need These 4 Teenage Artists On Your Radar ASAP

Collage of teenage artists

We at THP love few things more than seeing new artists get the recognition they deserve, and it just so happens that some of the most talented rising names out there haven’t even reached their 20th birthday! Stars like Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift found colossal success in their teens and the next generation is quickly rising up to fill some of the biggest shoes in the industry. Here are four of our faves who we know will blow up in 2022!

Benson Boone

With his debut single ‘GHOST TOWN,’ Benson Boone already earned a slot on The Ellen Show and over 100 million streams worldwide. But don’t get it twisted, honey bees, his follow-up track, ‘ROOM FOR 2,’ will shove any one-hit-wonder fears you have in mind far, far away! Between the strong vocals, vulnerable yet not too delicate lyrics, and the bouncy beat reminiscent of The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s ‘Stay,’ this song has been in our heavy rotation since the first time we heard it. His voice gives us mega Luke Hemmings vibes, and you already know how much we at THP adore 5 Seconds Of Summer.

I write so many sad songs about different experiences I’ve had, but I met this girl that’s different than anyone I’ve ever met & she makes me feel like I’d do anything for her. ‘ROOM FOR 2’ is basically just a journal entry about this girl.

Lexie Carroll

If the indie-pop scene is more your thing, Lexie Carroll is one new artist you can’t let pass you by. Let us tell you, it’s a sin that her VEVO page has less than 100 subscribers at the moment! Her gentle voice is so calming yet so emotive, and it’s so easy to get lost in her pretty melodies and thoughtful lyrics. What is it about English artists that transports us to another world every time? We’ll have to run some very scientific experiments (AKA listening to artists like Lexie and Ellie Goulding on repeat) to be entirely sure, but until the results come back, we’ll revel in it with songs like ‘do you wanna leave this city?’ and ‘we’re not lonely anymore.’

[apple_music_ad artist=”Lexie Carroll” song=”do you wanna leave this city?”]

‘do you wanna leave this city?’ came from me kind of hating the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s so loud and busy and sometimes I think I’d like to go and live in a cottage in a forest and just knit and drink tea for the rest of my life. It’s also about people being complicated and not knowing whether someone actually likes you back – it’s a bit tricky to craft your cottagecore future dreams with someone when you don’t know if the feelings are mutual.

Christian Lalama

It was a long two years without new music from the amazing Christian Lalama, but his latest release, ‘Girlfriend,’ was well worth the wait! The song combines elements of pop, R&B, and hip-hop into one ridiculously smooth and unbelievably catchy package. It shows off Christian’s fresh perspective on the sounds that are dominating the charts and airwaves at the moment, allowing him to reach the general public while still carving out his own voice and spot in the industry. His sound is so refined yet still hints at so much more experimenting and exploration in the future, and we’re so glad to be along for the ride!

I’m so excited for my fans to hear my new song, ‘Girlfriend.’ It’s my first release in a while and it showcases how my sound has grown over the past few years. I hope you love it!

Maya Lane

With just a single song, Maya Lane has swerved us right into her lane and got us wrapped around her finger! She flips the elements of the pop-country tracks we already love – see Fleetwood Mac’s ethereal ‘Silver Springs’ and Kacey Musgraves’ ‘justified’ – into a fresh new sound that’s equally fresh as it is classic. At just 18, she has such a grasp on who she is as an artist and the stories she wants to tell, something it takes most artists years to nail down. She’s gearing up to drop her first EP later this year, so keep an eye and ear out – it’s destined to be one of the best releases of 2022!

[apple_music_ad artist=”Maya Lane” song=”Still the Same”]

I wrote ‘Still the Same’ just after the first lockdown in 2020 with Jonathan Quarmby. I went in with a rough chorus idea based around the line ‘dance around our kitchen.’ This phrase really set it all off and led us to the song and the daily moments that remain part of us in good or bad times. I wanted to create a really vivid storyline and encapsulate the feeling that sometimes the little things that are so important to you do not change even when it seems everything around you is.
