Pass us the tissues, please! Nina Nesbitt just destroyed us (in a good sense) with her latest single and the music video for ‘When You Lose Someone.’ Nina has proven many times she’s one of the best artists in our generation, capable of turning any subject into a beautiful song. ‘When You Lose Someone’ is further proof of that.
‘When You Lose Somebody’ is a sad song. There’s no denying that, but it’s the kind of sad that’s also beautiful and intense. The amazing thing about the song is that it’s about grief, but it can be interpreted in many ways. Whether you went through a break-up or lost a loved one, this song is unbelievably relatable and rings true for so many of us.
It’s insane to see how well Nina has put into words, the feelings we all experience when we lose someone. It really is “not something that just fades overnight,” and it does stay with us for the rest of our lives. Not only that, but it’s good to know one of our favorite artists gets us so well.

An Even More Beautiful Video
And if it wasn’t enough to have beautiful lyrics in Nina’s angelic voice, she also gave us this heartbreaking masterpiece of a video. The simple setting of the video makes it possible for us to focus on the emotions shown on Nina’s face as she sings every word.
The hooded figure hugging Nina was also a great addition to the video. It can be interpreted as anyone so we’re never sure what kind of grief Nina is singing about and we can also see ourselves in her place, hugging that one person we miss so much.
