We’ve been hyping up Glass Animals for a long time over here at The Honey POP and here is just one of a million many reasons why. The British boys have now solidified their stardom and made history with their single ‘Heat Waves.’
Would you believe that since its 2020 release, ‘Heat Waves‘ is still heating up the airwaves? The band has just made history becoming #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart after 59 weeks of steadily climbing up and up the charts, literally record-breaking. The previous record was held by Mariah Carey and ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ which took 35 weeks rising on the charts in 2019 before it hit number one. Slow and steady wins the race and Glass Animals are winning.
It’s one of just 10 songs to have reached the top of both the Alternative Airplay chart and the Hot 100 since the two charts have co-existed. FYI that’s a whole 33 years. Only 10 songs. The last song to do that was Billie Eilish‘s ‘bad guy‘. There are so many big names who have also achieved these feats, the boys are in some pretty star-studded company.
Is 2022 The Year Of Glass Animals?
We’re so glad Glass Animals have finally made it to the top of the charts, they are so deserving. ‘Heat Waves‘ has been on our on-repeat playlists for so long and it’s amazing to see them smashing records! They’re nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s GRAMMY® Awards. It’s looking like it’s going to be yet another enormous year for these guys. We’ll be crossing our fingers!
